I have been very impressed with the kit and it's instructions. Modelling and model kits have certainly come a long way. All I can say to people from my experience is, take your time and read the instructions well. They are excellent. Do this and all will be well.

IRegards,
Andrew.

yep, read the manual online like 5 times now and i understand it all!! It will pay off in the long run. im not in any hurry because im leaving to AZ in about 3 months so can't get the kit. It would be sitting around too long and possible get damaged. How long do you think it would take to build straight and true? if you had like 5 hours every other day?

I thought about keeping the landing gear fixed due to money issues and simplicity. I want to order the robart fake landing gear strut that just covers over the wire landing gear the real fixed struts cost about 100+ bucks, im cheap but thats the way im only going it it cost only 13.50 for the set!! it will still be scale looking though

I guess that will depend on what you are including and what sort of experience you have. I am really a newbie to the building of such models and I am also trying to customise the model include all of the corrugations. I would say based on my experience, someone who was an experienced builder, was not completing the corrugations and was maintaining fixed landing gear and had all of the necessary tools the breakup would be something like the following (in hours) for a quick built (ie not perfect) model:

Fuselage 5
Landing gear rails 2
Stabilator 5
Rudder 3
Flaps 2
Aileron's 2
Wings 5
Fuselage Top 2
Nose Cone 2
Covering 10
Landing gear 5
Engine and fuel tank 2
Sanding 10

Total 55

I would estimate the corrugations took me easily the following:

Stabilator 10
Rudder 5
Flaps 5
Ailerons 5

Total 25

The landing gear (retractable Robart) are taking approximately the following:

Front Landing gear 2
Wing Landing gear 3

Total 5

Customisations for the landing gear doors I would expect to take in the vacinity of the following:

Front Landing gear 10
Wing Landing gear 5

Total 15

Grand Total 100 (20 days, 40 every other + delays)

Also, please take note that this is work time only (give and take on each item depending on individual approaches), and does not allow for delays in getting materials such as carbon fiber cloth for the gear doors etc...

Therefore with delays etc.. say approximately 2 months at every other day.

Because I am new to these models, I am taking a considerable amount of time digesting the plans and the implications of doing each step so as to make a minimal amount of mistakes. My time is considerably more than this, however, my experience in considerably less. The last model I built was when I was 15 and it was 30 cm long rubber band model.

I estimate it will take me close to 6 to 9 months to finish the way I want as I can only get at it now and again and I am also going to add rivets.

Even with the issues I have had, I still believe that if this represents the kits nowadays, they are great.

I hope this information helps.
Andrew.

PS. If anyone else wished to add to these times or even dispute them, please feel free as I am definitely no expert and am still to complete may areas of the model, and will not take offense.

I was told NOT to overpower this bird.....and I think a 1.20 would be way too much considering they flew the prototype on an OS .61 two-stroker!

Been flying mine on a OS .91 2c... Lots of power, runs on the rich side and lasts longer!!
I have a Fiberglass Spec. Cowling for the Arrow if anybody needs one.....NEW untouched.

I might be interested in the cowl. How much are you looking for, or is it free? Hmmm, didn't think so. If it isn't sold by Top Gun, bring it with you and I'll probably take it off your hands.

Thanks, Phil.

looks like a .91 os is the answer and I plan on making it a archer instead of arrow, kinda partial to archer since that's what I got my private license in, he he.

thanks guys

Great desision!!! The OS .91 is a very dependable motor! My Topflite T-34, Arrow, Barron and A-36 Bonanza are all powered by the OS.91's. Run them on the slight rich side and they will never let you down!!!

Same thing for me, they told me to not overpower this model, my first choice was a Evolution 26 gas, but after some answers of TopFlyte, I gone put a Saito 91 in it.

If somebody flew this plane, is it difficult to use the flaps, I never use that things and I dont know how and what happen when you down it.

Is 400 feet is enought to takeoff and land this bird?

Thanks
