I got a Cirrus Pro Charger, and it works great, has all the bells and whistles that you might need, and also doubles as a field charger, so that you can use it at the Field or use the adapter and plug it up at home into a standard socket. Will charge Nicd's as well as NIMH. Another plus and you can get it for about $139 which isn't an unwise investment. Hope this helps

FINALLY! Someone who went out and bought one of these like I did. I love this charger. Like Stang said, it comes with an AC AND DC inputs, so you can charge stuff at home and bring it to the field.

It also cycles, and discharges. Hobby People has a sale every once in a while where you can get it for $109. The regular price ain't bad either.

I was in the same boat about 2 weeks ago, narrowed it down to the FMA Super Nova or the ST. I read a lot of reviews and ended up with the Super Turbo. However it's worth the time to see what it is you expect out of the equipment.

For reading this forum I think the best bang-for-your -buck chargers are (in no particular order):

Dymond Super Turbo
FMA Einstein XL
Cirrus Pro Charger
(Litco if u can find it )
Sirius Pro

I got an Einstein myself based on what I wanted to do wiht it.
With most of these teh differences are few or for specialized issues
pick one and u won't be sorry
Regards,
Patrick

I have both the Sirius and the Turbo chargers. They are both excellent chargers. The Sirius, BTW, has a lifetime warranty.

Sirius Pro ?

I have been in the Charger quandri for awhile myself ... I almost bought a hobbico ACCU-PRO Plus ... but held back to see what may be better choices ...

does the sirius pro double as a field charger?

or sould one opt to have the field charger seperate from the home charger/cycler/discharger?

I hate questions ... they always cost me more money!

Don't know about the Sirius, but I want to make sure it's not getting confused with the CIRRUS Cycle Pro.

The Cirrus can double as a field charger with the DC adapter included in the package.

As far as the Super Turbo goes and please don't get me wrong as I am barley learning how this whole battery maintenance works. It will not only charge just your hobby batteries it will charge any nicad/nickel you own be it cordless drill etc..... I brought back to life a battery for my dads 12 volt cordless drill which was a NiMh. The charger that came with his drill would no longer charge it, the ST put life back into it. As I stated above I am just kind of learning and know nothing about these other chargers as they might do the same as well.

Keep in mind again unknowing what the other chargers mentioned above in this thread will do, the ST cycles and discharges. One down fall that comes to mind on the ST is its inability to charge more then one battery pack at a time. I found ways around this by purchasing battery holders for single battery cells. Packs, well still no problem.

As far as using it in your house to charge batteries it does require a 12 volt power supply in order to work at a min of 10 amps per say. I constructed one from an old computer power supply and also purchased a pyramid power supply at a reasonable price.

A good cheap one is the Hangar 9 Sure Cycle. Pretty basic. But effective. The Sirius filed chargers are the best. Expensive. But worth it!

chargers are a long term investment
why buy econimical chargers
get the best and save money in crash due too battery failure
take a shultze isl6 430d or 530d. it charge everythink from nicd to litium. it test pack by measuring resistance and tell you if the battery is wrong under load (check amperes on 5/6 servos)it saves money avoiding the problems
