Mr D -> AC Cobra body?? (1/20/2005 6:43 PM)

Anyone know where I can find a 200mm AC Cobra body for my R40??

cossie -> RE: AC Cobra body?? (1/20/2005 7:33 PM)

from a shop

And I know this doesn't matter but the AC cobra is the replica car. The Shelby cobra is the original.

not quite. AC made the cobra body, over in england. then Carol Shelby bought the rights for it, stuffed in a ford V8 and called it the Cobra

Exactly...... Well?

cardriverx -> RE: AC Cobra body?? (1/21/2005 2:10 AM)

How about 63-67 vette body or even a 68-82 body[:D][:D][:D]

OT, BUT...
there has never actually been an AC Cobra. the 427 Cobras used barely ANY AC parts (the dashboard, some interior pieces, and the pedals, and that's about it), and since Shelby was the manufacturer, it had nothing to do with AC. Ol' Shel' simply bought the AC Ace and went from there (with the 260/289 Cobras)
with the 427, that was a ground-up effort.
just like how a Saleen Mustang is by technicality not a Ford, since Saleen is the manufacturer of the car.

Sixtoes1313 great work. Thanks. Doh, it is 190mm..... Oh well, the tires do stick out on the real Cobras. I just hope that it will fit on 200mm chassis cars.

ThunderbirdJunkie -> RE: AC Cobra body?? (1/21/2005 8:09 PM)

I think HPI makes a set of -3mm offset wheels so it wouldn't be AS bad...
IIRC, the real 260/289 Cobras had the wheels stickin out a bit, but I think the 427 had flares as big as it did to house the tires due to FIA rules (in case you're actually tryin to do a scale car)

Mr D -> RE: AC Cobra body?? (1/21/2005 11:15 PM)

Thanks Guys... I don't think that the 190mms will be that big of a problem. Easaly fixable. Looks neat though.
