Hello all, me again.
I managed to get a cox tee dee tank mount and was getting ready to mount it to the fuselage but have a problem.
The tank mount is as wide as the fuse, on the back of the firewall I have two support planks, which prevents me from using a blind nut (the pictures show what I mean) so should I just use some wood screws and run some thin ca through the holes?
Thanks!

If you have enough meat on the firewall, just drill and use a sheet metal or wood screw to secure it.

It looks to me like your screws will be going into the joint between the plywood and the balsa sides. The way around that would be to glue on a second firewall that extends right to the outside of the fuselage surfaces. No way can you depend on the balsa even with CA glue. Some thin CA wicked into the end grain of the plywood around the holes of the second firewall layer would help a lot. #4 x 1/2 sheet metal screws will be fine for the 1/2A stuff.

so basically laminate another plywood piece on top of it, should I cross grain it or go in the same direction?
Once thats on would it be ok to use screws eventhough they will extend slighting into the joint?
THanks!

The grain in plywood doesn't really matter since it's got enough cross ply layers. As long as you have enough material around the screw so the plywood does not split. As mentioned some thin CA into the holes at the corners would help. If the screws protrude into the other wood and ply behind that's not a problem. If you have not thought about it be sure to pilot drill the holes. Pilot drilling greatly reduces the stress in the wood as the screw goes in for the first time. Especially with a hole so close to the edge.

ok new plan, if I were to remove the stock firewall and move it back say an inch, would that cause a problem?
Then I could use just one piece of plywood and some blind nuts? (trying to think of weight here)
Plus as you mentioned in another thread, it would help balance...

Sure, that'll help. While you're at it split the sides apart a little further if required so the firewall is big enough for the tank mount. Also be sure you back up the glue joint with corner blocks in behind for some extra strength. Even if you are using plywood doublers you still want some extra glue joint area and wood to back up this highly stressed joint.

guys been a while, I'm picking back up finishing the puddycat and have decided I'm going to move the firewall back 1"
My question is how much down thrust should I add in and should I add any left or right thrust.
I'm going to be using a tee-dee .049

With a TD .049, I wouldn't bother with any down or right thrust.
