Status: offline 		I just ran mine on a test stand, and it peaked out at 8,700 rpm swinging an MA 16x8 new K-series on Powermaster 15% nitro (synthetics/castor blend).

my saito 150 turn apc 16/8 at 8700 rpm , with 20/20 magnum fuel , but he is not broken.

wildcat 15% synthetic
apc 16x8 =9000 rpm
apc 17x6 =9000 rpm
motor has about a gallon and a half thru it and is easy to start if u load it up "really wet" then just flip it backwards by grabbing the spinner and sorta snapping your fingers........ hard to explain but mine starts every time without hassle. idles reliable around 1550

Glow Plug--Fox Miracle
I think I like the 5% nitro, I could go 2 to 3 clicks lean of peak and it didn't kick the prop off, it just slowed down about 100 rpm.

Status: offline 		ive used like 6 different tachs from guys at the field including my own hobbico... its all in how you break the engines in i think, i do it a little different than everyone else, a saito 180 at the field puts out the same RPM's on the same props as my 150, 16x6 is way to small because I was well past 10,000RPM with one of those. could have somthing to do with my elevation and how mild our temperatures are.

I believe it. I got 9700 on Saito 180 on 15%; 10200 on 30%.

Status: offline 		Hello Richard I have been running my Saito 150 and getting it tuned for my New Goldberg Monster Pitts I think this is a good match for this plane. My (Hobbico) tach readings were 8800 - 8900 w/ APC 16-8 and a zinger 16-8 but with a zinger wood 17-6 the tach is showing 8300 - 8400 . I intend to use the 17-6. According to the thrustHP thrust calculator I should get and approximate thrust output of 16 -16.5 lbs were the 16-8 is about a pound less. This is not to mention the lower RPM's with will improve the life span of the engine. I am after thrust not speed I know that many times this is thought to be the same. Any thoughts on this. I would appreciate any input.

Aerobatixkid my friend, broken in or not the life of your engine will be short live at that RPM. Also with the engine that lean it can backfire causing it to throw a prop. This can be DANGEROUS on the ground during warm up or run up prior to take off and catastrophic during manuvers. Imagine a low pass then you throttle up to go verticle. You here a loud POP. NO PROP, NO AIRSPEED, OR ALTITUDE..... and then only that cracking sound that you know is NOT a good thing. Not trying to insult your intelligence or ability just offering my experience. I could see the higher RPM if you lived @ 5000 ft. elevaton like Denver Co. but not 1200 to 1500 Ft. What is your elevation? Anyway if your getting that high RPM you might try a larger diameter prop or even a three bladed prop. If you want speed, increase the pitch and if you want static thrust increase the diameter. At any rate check around those RPM's are pretty high you might want to get em down and save your engine. JUNK FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Status: offline 		I had a Saito 150 mounted in my Funtana 90 and it did (did, because it's broken and I replaced it for a YS 110) 9200 rpm on an APC 17x6 with 15% cool power and 9600 rpm on 30% cool power. My YS 110 turns a 16x6 at 9600 and an 17x6 at about 8900 on 30% fuel, so it turns the same size prop 700 rpm lower than the 3 oz heavier Saito 150, but with way much better throttle response. The 16x6 is actually a bit too small for the 150 and the 17x6 too big resulting in a weak throtlle response. The 17x4W gives the right RPM but can snap easily which happened to me with a crashed plane as result.

pro zinger 18x6
YS 20/20
75 degree day
8450rpm
newer engine, maybe 2-3 gallons throught it!
