In that era, it was more Webra, OS, SuperTiger and Rossi I think. YS really came onto the scene with force in the 80's when the F3A schedules went to turn "turnaroud" format, which was in '84.

Were those engines rear exhaust with pipes?

No. Mostly they were side exhaust. Most were run with mufflers till that later 70's, then pipes became the norm. The RE engines were more early 80's.

Mike,

Are you familiar/or have an opinion on the Miss Norway (MKII)?

Ok guys, I'm getting nolstagic in my old age.

I'm looking for a few specific models either kits or nicely built:

I'm pretty sure you could design an old style pattern plane in your sleep. I'm sure a lot of guys would want to buy one too. Come on, Mike. Twist some arms at Hangar 9 and get it done for us.

I bought an old pattern plane at a swap meet. Not sure what it is. It says "custom built by Ed Mills" inside. Looks like the fuselage was carved out of a solid piece of balsa!. Ever heard of this guy??

Yeah. We have an ed Mills here, but it may not be the same guy. He's in his 80s now, but he's a heck of a guy and still flies pretty good.....good enough to win the last fun fly.

I do not have the top to the Magic ....and yes, I'd consider selling either one. Make me an offer I can't refuse

I have Phoenix 8 and a Magic, both are partially assembled. Both wings are assembled and both fuse's are partially assembled. Shoot me an offer if you're still looking for one.

Here are the pictures of the Phoenix 8. The servo lead poking out is an old expert retract servo. The Magic is currently in his buddies basement, I'll get pictures of that as soon as I get a chance.

Mike,

Dad has a dirty birdy sitting in his basment that is framed up. He might let it go...
