Thanks for helping to explain that with a shorter intelligible statement.

True, I've added some caveats to the 'Tips' section. Some of the words you might recognise .

Hi, I'm looking for a collection of popular setups to add as presets to the calc, trying to make it easier to use. Although not many people using this calc yet (2 hits a day ), I get 30+ hits per day on my other heli calc(s).

Please post stock setup numbers and if possible, post a couple of 'standard' or typical example modified setups. Or as much info as you can remember/estimate for the following:

Vehicle name and manufacture:
Scale:
RTR weight (approx):
Type: Buggy/Truck/Truggy/Car/Off-road/ etc.
Stock or modified:

Motor name and type(brushless/brushed):
Motor KV(rpm/v):
Wheel Diameter:
Wheel Diameters available practical range:

Pack voltage:
Cell capacity (mah) :
Cell type (NiMh/Lith):
Cell count:

Spur Gear Teeth:
Pinion Gear Teeth:
Internal/Transmission/Car Ratio:
Spur Gears available range:
Pinion Gears available range:

optional:
current draw average guide (Amps):
or runtime guide on battery specified:
Any other links to data and specs:

Cut n paste, fill in as best you can,
Thanks.

Maybe you could add a button to the calculator that lets people save or share their setups with the general public, then you could decide which ones of those to use as presets or examples.

I can't give public access to the web server from client side script, not wise. Plus browser permissions and activeX components, it all gets a bit messy in client side script (tried it once before at the bottom of here, IE only).

The best I can offer is to use the 'Export setup as HTM Link' button, then cut n paste and post the auto generated forum post link in this thread but that still requires some additional info not on the calc, like:

Vehicle name/model, manufacture, scale:
RTR weight (approx):
Type: Buggy/Truck/Truggy/Car/Off-road/ etc.
Stock or modified:
Motor name and type(brushless/brushed):
Wheel Diameters available practical range:
Spur Gears available range:
Pinion Gears available range:

I only need a few common setups as starting points.

Wow according to the formula in this thread I am at +1.72 with my Tamiya Sand Viper. Darn thing cannot have the gears swapped. I am using the smallest pinion now. May have to get another buggy.

Hi,

10000mAh is a 10Ahr battery at 11.1v (or any voltage) would last 75mins at 8A.
The user has to estimate either runtime in mins to work out average Amp draw or enter an average Amp draw to work out how long the pack would last if 100% capacity was drained.

What's up?

Runtime max without losses = (Battery Capacity Ahrs) / (Amps average) * (60 mins)
Or Amps average = (Battery Capacity Ahrs) / (Runtime) * (60 mins)
Power = Current * Volts

ok, so say with a 3s 10,000 moph lipo 11.1VLTS how much runtime would i expect going 75-100% with speed?

Sadly I can't model for that. If you knew how long another capacity pack lasted, then you can use that experience to estimate how long the 10000mAh pack would last at similar a discharge rate, making allowances for any weight changes.
Say you got 10mins on a 6000mAh, plug the numbers to get the average current consumption (=36A), update the capacity to 10000mAh and add say 10% to the current consumption (say 39.6A) you enter and an estimate can be worked out +/-10% accuracy (~15mins). Extra weight might have a greater effect depending on the weight of the truck/car to begin with and the kind of driving.

Edit: if your juggling pack capacities at the same voltage then Amp draw is comparable, otherwise you need to compare the power in watts. As the voltage increases the Amp draw is less for a given power input (and normally more efficient, less current in the wires means less heat).

I love the info.
I am new to RC and having fun tweaking and exlporing. I would ask a favor, does anyone know what the transmission ratio is for the Evader EXT RTR electric? I called Duratrax and could not get the info, perhaps I asked incorrectly. With this info I can fully use the Gearing Wizard. In the article "Now multiply your drive ratio with your transmission gear ratio " gear ratio was a given figure. I have all the other numbers and ready to rock once I get the trans ratio for the Evader EXT

Thanks

Alex

You seem like someone that can help me. I have a stock e-firestorm truck with the 15t firebolt motor in it. I am running nimh 4200 batteries. Tires are 2.2, 19 tooth pinion, 87 tooth spur (48 pitch). What is my rollout ratio, and what do I need to do to make this thing efficient to run around 1.1 rollout.
Thanks,
Brian

Your rollout is approx. 1.25. A 17t pinion will put you at 1.121 with a 4.75" dia. tire. If they are 5 inch diameter you'll need a 16t pinion.

Hi speedmunkey, would you like to bring your PDA and come and play on my track? There are a lot of calculations for one to ponder on with this thread, I am going out to check my tire size and play with the spread sheet> Job well done guys

So, if I did everything correctly, the original final drive ratio for my e-maxx 3905 (out of the box) is -1.99:1, It came with 17/68 (pinion/spur), single speed tranny 1.83:1, and 37/13 diffs (2.85:1). I have installed buggy diffs at 43/13 (3.31:1) and to keep approximately the same performance I went up to 20/68 on my pinion/spur, which gives me final drive of -1.720:1 Right about where it was, maybe a little faster than stock. If I did it wrong please let me know.
