    Thanks! Bill K.
Wondered if there was life out there. Ditto on the wanting to correct weak fusealage beforhand. Have you flown the one you got yet?

    Doug W.

Nope, I stripped the covering back, have re-enforced the sided, and have not gone any further yet as time has not allowed. I hope to cover it back up and finish the assembly this weekend. I still have to order some servos too so it will be a couple of weeks. I went over the fuse pretty careful and I did not notice any of the stuff that most people hammered on this plane for... I beefed it up anyway though.

I bought an Accel Hobby Katana 70 from "accelfly" off of eBay. Said that the fuselage was not glued properly at the factory. I did the suggestions that they had given and my right wing broke off in mid flite. Lost the wing and a good servo but found the other parts. The wing joiner was terribly insufficient for the wing. It was just a piece of 1" x 1/8" light ply. I know I will never buy another one of these planes.

My brother has had the same problem.

I have the GS 40 version and have never had a problem with it at all and thats one of the main reasons I got the 40 size.

Sorry to hear that has happened to you, your not the only one.

Here is some video of the GS40 hovering it on the deck.

    Enjoy it.

My 70 is a once piece wing. Was your's also? That's kind of scary... I hope mine don't do that. Where you doing something harsh when it happened?

I was in a nice easy bank turn , not my usual yank & bank. Just lining up to the field for a landing and the wing just exploded. It was a sad sight. I bought it on eBay from accerlfly and I think that he and Accel Hobby's are the same person. I usually just fly, or I should say practice to hover with the Katana 70 and I had just finished that and was coming around to end of the field to land. Had maybe 1/3 throttle and boom in the turn.... I loved how it hovered and being inexpensive a great one to practice with. I will probably buy another one but open it up and put in a good ply wing joiner. Good luck with yours.

WELL I HAD THE SAME KIND OF PROBLEM ON MY GS70. I WAS HOOVERING IT, CAME OUT OF THE HOOVER STRAIGHT UP PUT A SLOW ROLL ON IT AND ( BAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM) THERE WENT HALF OF THE WING. COURSE U CAN GUESS WHAT HAPPENED NEXT, DESTROYED MY STAIO MOTOR (DAM). CALLED ACCEL UP AND EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT HAPPEN AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT BEFORE. THEY GAVE ME A DISCOUNT ON ANOTHER ONE AND I AM STILL FLYING IT AND IT IS DOIN GREAT SO FAR ( KNOCK ON WOOD)

I got a GS70, also via accelfly on eBay. Taking the advice I've seen here, I've just finished CA'ing everything I can get at around the wing mount.

As for the wing: I worked through the servo hatch, using milled fiberglass and thin CA to beef up the main spar/wing joiner on both right and left sides, and CA'ed the center section that I removed the MonoKote from. I'm going to take this further - CA'ing all inside corners and around all the holes in the fuse.

Do people think this might be enough? Or are there more and/or better ideas out there?

I will get another one and remove all the covering! I like to cover, Ha Ha. But as I stated before the add on eBay said nothing of a problem in the wing gluing process and said it was a poor job of glue in the fuse. I bought another one and like I said I will remove all covering and make sure the same thing doesn't happen again.

I'm wondering if I should strip the covering on the wing on mine now or chance it. Oh and the guy selling them on eBay is no longer registered. Not sure what happened, but he's gone. I manged to get to planes at a steal of a deal, but he's gone now.

His name is Winnie Wang and email is accelfly@gmail.com and he is working with me on getting me a replacement plane far the S/H & $15.00 extra so I guess I'm going through with it. I loved the plane when it was flying. A Satio 100 and 15"x4W prop and hang all day long. Got to love it. I will however strip covering and reinforce the wings center and put in some spruce spares instead of the balsa spares. It went bang so fast I thought I had a mid air but I was the only plane up.

I have seen more Kat 70's on eBay. I was wondering if anyone else was having problems with the wing's exploding? My pocket book would appreciate the price of the ones on eBay. There has to be something bad wrong for them to just let them go for over $100 off of retail!

I went ahead and got the Katana 70! I have a Saito 100 for it. I bought mine off eBay from nsupply and I was going today to leave feedback and they are No longer a registered user!!!! I guess I will not be getting any good feedback from them now!

Anyway If it breaks, I just hope at least I get a couple of months out of it before then.

Hey guys, I got one of the Katana 40s from Nsupply and noticed that the right side of the fuse was debonding a little bit. Not complaining just mentioning it. Anyway I reglued the disbonded parts and it flies like a bandit. One of the instructors at the field flew it this weekend and really wrung it out. Still flies awesome.........

Be careful about this guy nsupply. He charged my credit card for a profile plane I won from him on Ebay. He never shipped the plane and kept telling me to wait. I waited 6 weeks and no plane. I contacted my credit card company and got the charge reversed. It sounds like most of his dealings he shipped, but I was not one of those.

I bought the Kat 70 from Ebay (Nsupply) and he shipped it immediately. But all this talk about fuse and wing trouble has me a little concerned. Its not worth risking the engine and electronics if theres a known problem. I'm not much of a gambler to assemble it and take my chances. Nor do i enjoy re-engineering an ARF. Its all i can do to get an ARF ready to fly let alone stripping covering and reinforcing things. What to do what to do ??

What would be ideal is if i could find someone that would build this thing for me cheap, with me paying them for the service along with shipping both ways.
