there is no real RTR crawler all the ones you see here have been modefied in some way the closest to stock is mike01s tlt which is all stock parts, most are based on custom frames and one of 3 axles; a tlt, a clodbuster, txt

a tlt is shaft driven 1:18 scale

a txt is shaft also but 1:10 scale

a clod is 1:10 scale but uses a motor on each axle no drive shafts

all are fun the tlt is not verry impressive in stock form, but easyly modded as seen by mike01
but is is 1:18 an there fore limited by its size

i have no clue bout the txt i think it is very simalar to the tlt just bigger but you might want to check

the clod is very weak in stock form as well but once matted to a custom chassi very good crawlers
i have one and bring it when i go real crawling and it is fun to find mini lines all over

my tlt is on the way so i cant speak from experience on them

but look around this fourm and pick a type you want to start a clod might be a good start due to the lack of a central tranny and drive shafts
custom t chassis can be made for 30 bucks from metal available at a hardware store or a LHS

read the forums and if you still have questions postem here

sbj

ps im guessing you wheel a YJ how is it set up?

ok let me straighten up the clod part of this there not very good crawlers(STOCK) but with some small mods they can be come almost as capable as a modded tlt-1,new shocks locked diffs and different shocks and springs, but with a new chassis they will be the best crawler out there depending on the chassis you pick.the stock clod is a tank when it comes to durability,i don't know who you've been talking to but there on crack

yj4dj i'd say they can get expensive some of the guys here have spent up to 1,300 on clod crawlers

Oat, i'm pretty sure he meant weak as in crawling ability not as far as breaking...

But well said, the clod style set up propperly will thrash any TLT or TXT out there...

Got to love independent motors !
