Too far for me, methinks... Wittering would make sense, but if last years #1,2, and 3 are all within stones throw distance the location isn't going to change the scores much....would have been good to have people like Angus there this year... shame...

Would be fairer to have a more central location in the UK though...

Regards,

Steve

Come on Sprink, last year there were 3 GBR/CAA comps in the North London region at Phoenix MFC, Baldock N.Hets and Warboys not sure of the programme yet for 2005 but there will be at least one or two comps. in the area. Reduce your rates and join in. Everyones welcome.

I did look at that the GBRCAA website, seems that there is a meeting in Winchester, which is only a couple of hours away, but as usual, the calender gives no real details, so I have no idea where most of the events are actually being held (just adding in a county would be very helpful). But where is Wittering or Skelbrooke?

could probably do ok in Standard with only a little practise, and Senior if I really worked at it.

TW just 'poppin in' to see how you lot are doin!

Quite obviously it's impossible to satisfy everyone with the 'perfect venue location' & I must admit RAF Wittering would prove ideal, flown there many times in the past, can vouch for it. The most recent article in RCM &E requested interested parties to make contact if they so desired a Freestyle event on their 'turf'. Pheonix came through & was highly recommended. This is about as late as one could leave it to establish this year's venue.

Perhaps in the years to come venues such as Wittering could be used, but they need to make it known they are available, either through the press, the new website, grapevine.....whatever.

It's gettin closer! Are you out there practicing?

How many times have we heard this before?
seems like a reason to not go with the fixed schedue to me, or at least make it easier to understand!

itching to get practicing but im a little unsure of one maneuver from last years schedule. What exactly is a 1/4 - 1/4 rebound roll, im guessing it must be 1/4 roll one way, then 1/4 roll the other and back to centre???

Phoenix MFC have offered their facility for this years event. That's North London, West M25 for those who know not where. I will be viewing the site early next month, confirmation will follow. Any comments?

Not Dorset I think Luke

Ok, I still havn't been able to figure out the fixed schedule, and Im not even sure if it is being flown, so I have found a better idea for the format.

Pete was saying right at the start of this thread that the freestyle championships really hadn't taken off like the heli 3D masters. I have been looking at trying to get into the 3D masters next year, and I think the format would work just as well for fixed wing as it does for helis.

At the 3D masters they have a freestyle, flight to music and a set maneuvers round. In the set maneuvers round the Pilot can choose 7 from a list of 30 maneuvers, some of the harder maneuvers like a pirrouetting globe a lot of the best pilots manage to make quite a mess of. The maneuvers have a k factor from 1 to 3, with the sportsmans limited to a maximum k of 10. Its not turnaround, so the caller calls the maneuvers through a loudspeaker and saying 'now' at the start then 'complete'. Visit www.3dmasters.org.uk for more info

For the freestyle championships the set maneuvers could be a mix of pattern and 3d maneuvers. For example some of the 1K maneuvers could be blenders, walls, square loops, 8pt rolls etc. Going up to the 3K maneuvers you have 2 roll horizontal eights, rolling harrier vertical eights etc. Maybe even harder maneuvers that CPLR and Quiqui Somenzini only dream of (are there any?)

Using set maneuvers like this will really sort good people out from better people and it also gives pilots a choice if they are more into f3a or 3d.

30 maneuvers would not be hard to come up with, if you get stuck I have plenty more suggestions.

So what do you think?

Thomas David

forgot to say, it really has to be at least 2 days.
