Hi, and thank you for writing. Free advice is always available here, or by emailing directly to jett@jettengineering.com I believe the Jett 60 that you are referring to is the SJ-60L. This is indeed built in the same size case as our .40, .46, and .50 engines. This engine is designed to turn larger props, at lower RPMs than the SJ-50. It is a bit of a hybrid between our traditional Sport Jett design and our control line stunt engines. If you are looking for speed, this is not the engine. For your application in the Cermark F-16, the 60L is not the correct choice. We have several customers currently flying the Cermark F-16 using our SJ-90L. The 90L is a "60" size engine with absolutely amazing power. There is a photo and a brief letter provided by Michael Leung of San Jose, California, describing one such installation on our web site Hall Of Fame page. This will be of interest to you. http://www.jettengineering.com/hall/index.html You may also be interested in the SJ-90L installation in a GP Patriot also shown on that page. I would recommend the SJ-76 or SJ-90 for the Cermark F-16. From what I understand, the plane needs the "60" size weight in the nose. Prop size can vary a bit. Depends on ground clearence available. an APC 12x6 is the design baseline. For either engine, you want to prop the engine to run at or above 14,000 rpm peak. I know the 90L can turn a 11x8, 11x9, 12x6 and 12x8 in this range. As for user friendlyness... You will not find a smoother running, more user friendly engine anywhere. Each engine is test run before shipment to ensure that it exceeds advertised RPM specifications. At that time Dub sets the low speed needle valve for optimum operation. Once you receive your engine, it still requires break-in per the instructions provided (also on our web site). Always prop the engine for it's designed RPM range, set the engine a bit on the rich side (500-600 rpm down from peak) and you will have a reliable, high performance engine that will last a LONG time As for the price of Jett engines (we are asked this a lot, so I will address it a bit here and I really should add this to our FAQ page)....... There is no way an American made, high performance, high quality engine can compete with "import" pricing. But, as it has been said by many, you get what you pay for. Jett's standards for design, quality and performance are absolutly second to none. All Jett engines are manufactured at Jett Engineering in Houston Texas by Dub Jett and Dennis Cranfill. All of the materials come from USA sources. Each engine features real chrome plating, high quality ball bearings, o-rings that do not swell or leak, and one of the best designed carbs/needlevalves in the industry. Sport Jett engnies all come standard with our famous Jett-Stream tuned mufflers. Each engine is hand fitted, hand assembled, test run, and personally signed by Dub himself before it is shipped. In essence, each engine is custom built to order. When you have questions, or require customer service, you are only a phone call or email away from speaking directly with Dub or Dennis. There are few other opportunities to speak with the actual engine designer when you have a question. Most importantly of all, Jett engines will outperform the competition. So, it comes down to "value". Most engines commontly available today are excellent products. Each has it's good and bad points, and performance differences. It is a lot like choosing between a Chevy and a Cadillac. I trust I have been helpful in answering your inquiry. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
