OK: After fabricating crude (but effective) training gear from 1/4 wood dowels and foam blocks, I ran the motor
to half throttle and it lifted off (even with the heavy training gear!). The gyro seems to keep the heading fairly well
and the control settings are close enough to hover if the "loose nut behind the sticks" only knew what he was doing.

Every once-in-a while the motor will not respond to the throttle (always from a full stop). Turning the transmitter
off then on seems to help. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this? Does the throttle have to
be full off before the motor will respond?

It looks weird, but its fun!

Guys Check this

I have found a nice new concept I d like to share ...

My Landing gear is very wide and I have almost No problem with tipping it over
BUT sometimes you have the odd wobble and your Blade tips strike the ground slightly ...
Its very annoying doesnt look nice and unbalances the airodynamic ..
Now I have a very cheap and easy solution to this

All you need :
P.T.F.E Tape ( every Harware shop has it .electricians Tape (PTFE) pipe thread )

The Pictures should be self explanatory

Cut around 2 Inch Carefully Start at one side of the blade and rub it over both sides . So make sure you put it on in the middle

The tape is not adhesive and goes on really smooth
Its very nice solution to an annoying Problem

Hope you like it

happy Flying

I have the exact same problem as Contact303 with the heli "freezing" in midair, causing a mayor crash every time It has never
happened when I have been "test" hovering in my livingroom (I dont know if it's pure luck), but it happens all the time when I fly in my garden.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?

Did you buy the Walkera brushless motor? Is it good? And did it solve the "freezing" problem?

Here's a picture of a paintjob i did on my walkera

Hi there
No my Prblem is still the same
I wish there was a solution
Maybee replacing the Part with Farnell Part?

Farnell: SPP80N03S2L-05 MOSFET Farnell part number 3576784

As suggested by someone earlier on Page 5 or 7 of this Thread
As for me th4e Problem is still current I only fly at 40 % and 30 inch high hence avoid mayor crashes

It freezes and stays at the speed for a few seconds before it resets
I have ordered the brushless setup HOPE THIS STOPS the cut outs
I ll let you know once it arrives
Bought in China gotta wait for it

That’s what mine does to the motor cuts out but if you disconnect the motor then the servos never freeze so it makes me think it’s the onboard ESC that’s the problem, it’s a shame walkera don’t test their products before shipment

I think I read in the manual somewhere that the freeze mode is suppost to be a safety feature if the receiver/esc loses the signal from the transmitter. unfortunately it's working overtime in your cases. the only help i can offer other than needing to replace the receiver or transmitter (whichever is not working right) would be to make sure your receiver antenna is not wrapped in a coil but is allowed to go straight to the farthest part on the rear of the heli that you can safetly hook it and then forward again. i had my #4 antenna coiled around my tail boom shaft and was losing signal within about 20 feet distance. when I uncoiled it and ran it straight back and forth I got about 50 feet before it started acting weird. this was with the walkera receiver and transmitter.

The brushless motor with the foam blades would hover the helicopter at less than half throttle. Unfortunately, I damaged the foam blades and installed the graphite pair. The loss of lift is significant. Does anyone else have any experience with the graphite blades?

BTW: The helo is equipped with a heavy set of training gear made of two 2ft, 1/4in wood dowels, I am sure lighter gear would help performance a lot.

I am not sure if you got any replies on this but the reason the heli was shaking violently is because of blade tracking. If you hold the chopper down and spin up the throttle lightly at eye level (be carefull not to get hit) watch the blades they will likely have one higher than the other this is tracking and will cause the shake. All you need to do is find the one flying higher than the other and disconnect the ball link at the blade clamp and turn it 1/2 turn up or down and put it back on and spin it up again and watch the blades when they are level with each other they are tracked and this should stop the vibration. If they are the same and it still vibrates you will need to balance the blades just search google for blade balancing ( I use the razor blade method).

Good luck and pm me if you have more questions I have been able to get mine working beautifully, and its 100% stock.
Allan
