Skorpion was designed to be an extremely high speed F3F slope racer. I dont know if we are talking about the same plane. An electrified Skorpion with a very powerful brushless/lipo setup would make it a plane to take along to heaven. I myself have seen the Skorpion fly- youd think its got a motor running all the time. In level flight it is about as fast as my Ferox after a 5 second dive! I know that on planes like that you need to us4e negative exponentials on some surfaces, and of course, program flaperon or use the flaps if you built it with flaps.

Can you give us info about where you ordered so we can know which plane you talk about?

Skorpion??? nice but not a F2B or hotliner, I guess this is a good thread to ask this in since he doesn't know what a hotliner is...

Skorpion???

Actually, starting a thread titled "Skorpion? any opinions?" might make better sense.

Whenever anyone has an idea that isn't in keeping with the topic of a thread, it's really a lot better to start that idea off in it's own thread. And it's also a good idea to give the new thread a subject line that identifies the new topic.

Actually, I got your point. And should have directed the suggestions toward the post that kicked the idea off:

quote:

Has anyone ever heard of an f5b ship called the scorpion? I just ordered one and it should arrive within the next few days. I've been doing some homework lately and decided against the Ion as a fellow at our field has one, and although it looks fast to me, I usally dance to the beat of a different drum (plus I didnt want to show up with the same plane). If anyone is familiar with the Scorpion, please give me some direction as to the preferred power systems. Thanks.

hi guys, does anyone have any experience with the graupner speed hotliner? it is a generic moulded 1.7mtr f5b style ship which is also sold by other manufacturers as the tiger, wilco, speed freak and probably a few more, i have a neu 1509/1y with 6.7-1 box, cc125 esc, 5s 3700 60c lipo and a range of rfm blades to try out, im assuming i can call this a hotliner? im just not too sure about the strength in the wing as im aiming for around 2kw from 145-ish amps. i have heard conflicting data from the different suppliers so im hoping someone has some real experience?

cheers guys

Pete

Hi Seng, your scorpion is a cracking little model, built by riechard and mostly the same constuction as the sprinter but a little smaller, from what i hear they are pretty tough and can take a good 600 watts, for the best advice on this one id say to get in touch with john emms from puffinmodels.co.uk, he has been selling these for a while and is very clued up on power systems.

good luck!
