The model is the bladerunner not the II. I did a little bit of research and the Bladerunner II will NOT be out for sale until the end of September or October of 2005.
If you want this I may have to charge you a little more to ship to Europe. I'll find out how much it would cost me and let you know.
Thanks

Well I ended buying the HX Winner 232 and the Bladerunner, so i had the chance to fly both. I like the HX Winner better. The Blade runner seems lighter and may have a bit longer flight time. The main rotor and the blades are made of a slightly thinner plastic material however it is less responsive then the HX Winner in forward and reverse action and with a minor crash i already busted a blade which was easily fixed with scoth tape.
What i like about the HX Winner is that the transmitter comes with trimmers for every channel. Also it seems more stable and it responds to forward and reverse much quicker and you can actually fly it in figure 8 etc. Also HX Winner have a flashing LED at the bottom which is a nice feature at least you can tell the heli is on also seems indestructible after a dozen crashes!
I will now try to use both batteries in parallel on the HX Winner to achieve longer flights. They both use the same Li-poli from Yuntong batteries, High rate 3.7V 250mah cell. not sure if it will lift off but I'll let you know what happens.

Hello Guys,
I was wondering if any of you have the "Iflyer" version of these Helicopters? I can't seem to find any of the models in Canada with the exception of the Bladerummer at Draganfly. Are they on par for Quality etc, etc? Thanks in advance!

Hi All
Sorry to say this but I have had a bladerunner for a few months, bought it for my sons birthday and I think it is the worst helicopter I have ever seen. The thing is virtually useless. Its easy to hover and fly because it actually cant do anything apart from going up and down. After 4 charges it completly stopped working and has spent the rst of its days in our garage. We moved on from the bladerunner and bought a Bell Twister 47, works on exactly the same two rotor setup but actually moves with cyclic input, making it a lot more fun and just as easy to fly. The bladerunner is a waste of money if you ask me. Look at the Bell Twister 47 and compare the two. Sorry to go on but I was very disapointed in the Bladerunner.

Cheers

Try

http://www.modelmaniacsonline.co.uk/products.php?CatID=178&SubCatID=179&ProductID=2942&Title=Twister+Bell+47+RTF+Heli&ManCode=6600035

It may be under a different name in the US, its more costly than the B-Runner, but a whole lot better.

Hope this helps

Hi Greg,

I own two of this wonderful helis and I was just wondering how do you charge the 340 mAh 3.7v with the stock charger?
And also, is 0.35 oz from this webisite is too heavy because Kokam is sold out: http://www.balsapr.com/common/keywordSingleView.asp?vid=07071235562005816&ProductId=V643651

Thanks,

hi Fred,
if its a new 345cell you're wanting to charge, you'll just have to unsolder then battery leads off the PCB, then solder some new ones onto the new battery, then solder the new leads from the new battery to the PCB (was that confusing, or is it just me? )or, you could get a seperate Lipo charger that'll charge down to a 345mah rate. you cand find some good ones for around 20 bucks. that cell you posted should work fine. its a little heavier than the stock one, but not by much. another option is this one http://www.balsapr.com/catalog/battNCharge/ETECView.asp?ProductId=V700996 its lighter than the stock BR battery but has a high enough discharge rate to easily handle the BRs motor needs.

if it hasnt been mentioned yet, the newest bladerunner will be coming out sometime around christmas or new year. it'll have better, longer lasting motors, a better battery, it'll be lighter, and fly longer. it'll probably be around 90 bucks or so when it first comes out, but it'll be worth it.

for those who have a bladerunner with burnt out motors, you've got two options to get replacements (if they havent been listed already) one, get the stock OEM motors here http://www.wrightbrothersrc.com/our_kits/bladerunner.htm or some new 1 ohm motors that just came out. no one has tested them in the BR yet, but considering the BRs motors are 1.7ohm, and these new ones are 1 ohm, they should work pretty well. i'll be getting some in a week or so. the new ones are here: http://www.balsapr.com/common/keywordSingleView.asp?vid=06161207072005801&ProductId=V397879

hi Sargon,

heres a good site with the parts (and others) that you're looking for: http://www.wrightbrothersrc.com/our_kits/bladerunner.htm

the BRIIs that are out right now arent the newest ones. Petter Muren (creater of the BR heli) said that there was a delay in the new motors they would be using, but the new upgraded BRs will be out around xmas or new years. the ones that are out right now have all the same equipment as the other versions, with just slight differances.

Nick,

Thank you, but the stock charger works just fine...and the new 340 mAh 3.7 battery works much better and last longer, the motor got pretty hot so I got heatsinks for them and cools them a little better. http://store.yahoo.com/raidentech168/19matamohesi.html

Thanks guys from the great tips, I'm able to enjoy it much better.
Fred.

Help!!! I have a Blade Runner II and it has suddenly become possessed. I broke one of the blades so I ordered a new set and put them on. Last night I fell asleep with the helicopter plugged into the charger. I finally got the battery to act somewhat normal (after repeated charging) but now the helicopter has a new trick. It will come up off the table, hover stably for a few seconds and then suddenly emit a grinding sound and begin spinning madly. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Thanks,
Roger

Roger,
leaving the heli plugged in all night shouldnt hurt it. the charger will stop charging once it has hit the peak voltage, so no worries there. it sounds like one of your gears is slipping up a bit and losing its mesh with another gear. this would cause the grinding and spinning. you'll probably have to remove the body to find out whats actually wrong, but removing the body doesnt void any warrenty, and it'll give you longer flight times, better overall controll, and better cooling to the motors so they'll last longer.

if you take the body off, check the gears. my bet is that the metal pin that holds the middle gear in place has losened a little and is letting the gear move up. another possibility is that when you put the new rotors on, the bottom one didnt get pushed down far enough so when you throttle up, the rotor simply lifts and loses contact with the main gear. check the little spacers that hold the rotors in place, make sure the rotor is down all the way.

on another note, ITC is about to release the latest version of the BladeRunner. its called the KA-50 BlackHawk, differant body, differant motors and battery. here's a discusion about it, sounds pretty promising: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=456951

also, a new smaller version of the BladeRunner will be showing up sometime next year. its half the size of the bladerunner, only a 6" rotors. looks really cool, here's a discussion on it also: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=461165

Nick,
Thanks for the answer. I bought an Exacto knife last night and I will cut the body off today. I'm hoping it's the pin you mentioned that holds the gear. Maybe I can push it back in or something. Thanks too, for the info on the new products. I am a complete novice at anything to do with r/c. This is the first time I have had an r/c helicopter (or r/c anything for that matter) and I'm really starting to enjoy this. I'm thinking of moving to something a little more sophisticated but I have to be careful because I can really only fly indoors. I live in Kansas and it's almost always windy here. I need to be sure I buy something that is easy to fly so I don't start destroying the furniture, family photos, pottery, art etc. I think my wife would lose interest in me having this hobby. If you have any ideas along that line, I'd appreciate them as well. I'm really starting to enjoy this. I don't have a hobby and I think this may be it.

Thanks again for the help. I really appreciate you taking the time.

Take care,
Roger

no problem. if you're wanting another indoor heli, Radio Shack now sells a heli called the SpinBlade. its 60 bucks and worth every penny.

if you've got extra cash to shell out and want a plane to fly in your living room with, check out plantraco's Butterfly. its around 250 dollars, but hey, you can fly in your living room

Thanks for the info on the Butterfly. I'll take a look. Please excuse the different log in, I had to make another one for work. I couldn't figure out how to use just the one account. Anyway, I cut the body off my Blade Runner II and you were right. The main shaft was pulling up under pressure from the spinning blades. When it did, the gear for the top blade hit the motor gear for the bottom blade and the top blade reversed. I tried a couple of other things, but what finally worked was winding some thin single strand wire (wire from a twist tie would probably work) around the bottom of the main shaft between the end "knob" and the frame of the helicopter. It works as a spacer and Voila! If flys! In fact, it flys FAR better with the body off than with it on. I also have much better control. I'm having a blast. Now I need to practice my fine control. I can get it to go generally where I want it to but not very precisely. There's still a lot of wandering back and forth to get where I'm going. I'm also still struggling when the helicopter is coming toward me. I haven't mastered that new set up relflexes.

Thanks again for the help.
Roger

glad to hear it worked out for ya. the overall lifetime of your BR will be increased by removing the body, all it does is add weight, and weight is the enemy with this bird. once you've gotten your thumbs mastered, try flying around in reverse. the heli is very sensitive to stick movement, but it really moves around when its going backwards. it usually ended up in a crash for me, but it was fun doing it.

Does anyone know what happens to a bladerunner if you reverse the leads on the jack going to the helicopter for charging?
