I was looking at Morris Hobbies and they have the Rossi .45 with the silencer for $159.95. This engine has 2.10 HP. I have never read a thread were anyone was using one of these engines. Is anyone running one now on a 3D plane and how good do they perform and is the power as good as it says?

I heard the Rossis were good engines. They have shorter strokes and larger bores= higher RPMs. They are supposed to be screamers with that pipe combo.

The Rossi-45 is an OUTSTANDING engine! I have had several and they ran/run like a top... They are noticeably more powerful than something like an OS-46FX/AX and they are designed to run on 0% (FAI) or 5% nitro-

I have seen a few threads where folks use the Rossi-45 and mini-tuned pipe on fun flies and profiles but the majority of folks run something torquey like an Irvine-53, OS-50SX, or MVVS-49... You will also notice that many folk consider the Rossi's to be finicky and suitable for speed only... They are wrong on both counts!

They are loud tho-

Great engine but I got rid of mine, its got a big case (heavy, uses a 60 size mount) and it makes its power too high (doesn't have a lot of low end grunt). Better choices would be ST51 (Tower muffler), OS50, MVVS 49, Irvine53, K&B 60 (Twist).

Thanks for the info. I have a ST .51 and an OS .50 SX but I was just thinking about a smaller engine with more power.
