I've been trying to order a bundle of Bluecor FFF for the past few days from Lowes. It looks like Lowes has dropped it from their inventory over the weekend. By that, I mean it was visible on their website as of last Friday, but not today (Monday). Also, when I called several Lowe's to order it, the store employees can no longer pull it up in their computer inventory. I gave them the Lowe's product numbers for this stuff, i.e. SOS # 89017, Item # 15346, and model # CP-14LOW, but it's no longer in their system as of today...

This could have some real ramifications to foamy builders. I've Googled for several hours trying to find other vendors who carry Bluecor FFF. There's plenty of info out there on what Bluecor is and what it's used for -- mostly R/C planes, apparently. However, there's no info about any other vendors who actually sell the stuff. A search on eBay turned up nada...

Is there anyone else out there who knows where to buy bundles of Bluecor FFF -- other than Lowe's?

Thanks,
-- Rod

they have it in just about every hardware store I've been in..... I bough mine from a local lumber yard

of course my friends picked on me because it is Pink
(From Dow corning, if I remember) but it is the same stuff

it could be they just changed vendors so the sku numbers are different,,,,

just go to your local Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, et al, and they should have it laying around

Hi...

I don't doubt for a moment that it's in every hardware store you've been in -- back East, where it's COOOOOLLDD!! However, Bluecor FFF has always been scarce on the west coast. (I'm in Oregon.) It's almost always a special order out here.

The point of my post was that a primary source for this stuff, Lowe's, is no longer carrying it in their computer inventory, so it might start getting scarce once their in-store stock is sold out. I've never seen the pink stuff myself, but I've read that it's not quite as strong as Bluecor and that it has lots of little "dimples" punched into the surface.

Meanwhile, I talked with a different local Lowe's and they told me that they actually located one of their other stores with a remaining bundle of Bluecor in stock. They're going to get it shipped to them and call me when it comes in. They also noted, though, that it's definitely NOT listed in their inventory anymore...

Regards,
-- Rod

Hmmm... Guess there is an advantage to living where it is snowy and cold! (finally found one!)
FF insulation is easy to get!

Hi Paul,

Thanks very much for the info! I'll definitely bookmark it for future reference. The price seems fair to me, given that it's getting harder to get.

In the meantime, one of our local Lowe's (Hillsboro) was able to locate another Lowe's store in the region that had some in stock. (I think he said Bellingham.) They said they'd get it shipped to the Hillsboro store and call me when it came in. This was about 10 days ago. I called to check on it today, and the guy said when he checked with the other store, they hadn't shipped it yet(!). He said they assured him that it would go out on tomorrow's outbound shipment and that Hillsboro would probably get it by Friday or Monday. If that doesn't work out, I'll definitely call on your local source.

I fly mostly IC sport planes at a number of club fields in the area, i.e. Oregon Barnstormers at Butteville, Evergreen Aero Modelers at the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, and occaisionally at the Molalla R/C Association field. (I'm also the webmaster for the Molalla club's website, www.molrca.com)

I've been flying IC for nine years, but I'm just now trying to get started with electrics and park flyers. Do you happen to know of any unofficial "park flyer" fields here in the Beaverton/Aloha/Hillsboro area where you can fly small electrics? It'd be nice to have a close-in field so that it wouldn't need to be a major "expedition" just to fly something small.

Rod,
I think as long as you stick with the electrics, you could fly almost anyplace.
I actually just go to my son's school and fly there, (I live close to Baseline and 185th ). There are several places fairly close that work, pretty much any park type area works for me so far. I haven't been flying long bit I have 3 Gas planes, and a Slowstick. My son started flying his plane last weekend and is hooked.
As for the Bluecor, I am starting this weekend on a plane. I have never messed with Bluecor before this but it seems to be pretty universal. There are some really neat planes built with it. I too checked Lowes about a week ago...but they couldnt ( or wouldnt ) work with me on getting any here.
Well, I am off to bed.......
Keep me posted on your building and flying areas you find.

Rod,I found a full bundle at the local salvage yard. It seems to be the type with plastic both sides. It is the bluecor product not some replacement. Should you care to have it we can arrange a sale. The bundle is flat,no breakage, with a bit of strapping pull at the outer edges.Recommend a fair price and we can make it happen.

Hi Dan -

I wanted to point out that you replied to a message that is nearly 8 years old. It will be interesting to see if you receive a response.

That said, availability of FFF is still an issue in some parts of the country.

- Jeff
