I picked up this combo for a few reasons, practice 3D, play with quad flaps and to have a big fun fly plane. The Ultrastick 120 was the all white version and I found the following during construction:

Hits:
* No broken parts, well packed and clean
* Every thing fit together nicely (all holes matched)
* All hardware included

Misses:
* 18 oz supplied fuel tank didn't fit, had to cut a hatch in the top to grind the former so the fuel tank could be mounted. The hatch is also a must for installing the engine mount blind nuts and fuel proofing the area. I also took the opportunity to reinforce the area with tri stock (looked flimsy)
* weak tail section. A guy at our field had the tail break off so I cut a hatch in the base of the tail in front of the stabs and epoxied cross braces and tri-stock into it.
* Some items left out of manual like how to install the tail wheel bushing and clear engine mounting instructions. I had to reposition the carb and throttle arm on the Saito 180 to get it in a good position
* Rudder and Elevator pushrods will bind in the tail and are heavy, replace with fiberglass arrow head types or carbon fiber. Though some suggest moving those servos to the tail I didn't for CG reasons.

First flight:
The Saito 180 started first try right out of the box. I was ver surprised after having a hell of a time with a Saito .72 on a Venus 40. I ran 2 tanks through her rich on the ground at 4800 RPM. After that I proceeded to taxi around. The first thing that was apparent was that the Saito 180 SERIOUSLY OVERPOWERS THIS PLANE. It was intimidating so I programmed the servo endpoint at what amounted to 50% throttle (still plenty for unlimited vertical). With an APC 16x8 on the Saito she was airbone (at 50%) in about 15 feet. After getting her trimmed out, she fle like a trainer with little concern for gravity. Maneuvers are clean and after 5 flights I've starting playing with crow, flaps and airleron / flap binding.

To sum up:

Saito 180 ROCKS this motor has surprised me with its power, stability (even at idle, running rich during break-in). I had not one dead stick in 5 flights and had programmed the idle on this brand new enginer at about 1900 RPM. The Stick is stable, responsive, predictable and fun to fly (but definately not a pattern ship). Every maneuver I tried, with the exception of knife edge, worked well. the stick has some dihedral so knife edge is very tricky, need some down elevator and she wants to roll out of it.

Tomorrow I'll fly her again and maybe get the courage to open up the motor a little more.
