So, is this thing not legal scale for IMAC? Or, is this just a rumor as to why it is no longer in production?

Thanks.

Yep, it's legal
I've seen several in basic and sportsman contests.
Why they stopped production? contact Mike McConville.

It is 1/4 scale. I was under the impression the rules for monoplanes are 1/4 scale or at least 80" wingspan.

IMAC rules do not state the size of the plane as a criterion for judging or entry. You could fly an 0.49 plane in IMAC and be legal just so it fits the rules for deviation from scale. Check the rules at the site http://www.mini-iac.com/

IMAA on the other hand does have a size requirement which is 80" span for a monoplane or 60" span for a multi wing plane. True scale of 25% or more is allowed even if under the previous span rule. An Extra and Cap at 25% is less than 80" span. Check the website http://www.fly-imaa.org/index.html

The two groups are easily confused with the similar letters.

IMAC is scale aerobatics and has competitions for flying a sequence. The "C" stands for club but think of "competition" to help remember the name differences.

IMAA is giant scale flying and is NON competitive fun flying.

I belong to both groups.

Guess next year will keep me busy, I will enter Pattern with my FOCUS, and IMAC with my H9 Cap 232.

My FOCUS should last me through all levels of Pattern, but suppose my H9 will only get me started in IMAC.

I am concerned with the noise issue with my cap, as I have an OS 1.60 with Bisson Pitts. I suspect it is under the 96 dB rule, but guess I need to invest in a sound meter to make sure.

Thanks for the info.
