You'll have to excuse me for wasting bandwidth on such a seemingly trivial post, but I just had to say it--I love 4-strokes! My wife bought my first one, a Saito .30, as a Christmas present for me in '03(yes, I know how lucky I am), and I was too busy with other things to get around to running it and flying it. I finally started assembling a PAM Tiger Moth .30 for it, and I dragged the test rig out to the backyard yesterday to start break-in. The motor fired right up with no tweaking other than setting the high speed needle to the recommended 2.5 turns out. The thing is so quiet, I didn't realize it had started until I pulled the starter away and the prop kept spinning at 3500rpm . I think it's actually quieter than the direct drive pusher setup I have in an electric flying wing. Gotta love that sound. I was really amazed at how much thrust the engine was putting out when I throttled up(it was blowing wet snow around behind the test rig) and how little noise it took to do it(you have to understand, I'm accustomed to the noise generated by the *cough* muffler on my ancient Fox .40bb, which sends dogs and small children running for miles and makes the deaf cover their ears , or better yet, the Cox Tee Dee .020, which spins a 4.5" prop rather ferociously, and with the racket of a thousand angry mosquitos! Moral of the story: I'm hooked. If this thing works as well in the air as it does on the test rig, I'm going to ditch all my two-strokes('cept the 1/2a stuff).

You'll love it, mine has been on two different LT 25's and is now going on a GyroBee. It has spent most of its life with a Graupner 10X5 which it turned at 10,100 rpm on 10% nitro.

I have 10 Saito's all bigger than the 30. I enjoy all of them.

Enjoy,

Jim

Hello; Me too, I went to the lake todaythere were eight planes there, only one had a two stroke in it. It was a LT 25 trainer thing. All the others were four strokes. One fellow has a 40 size cub with a 26 surpass in it, he was telling me that he thought that it was down on power so he checked the valves and found the intake a little loose, he tightened it up to .004, and got all his power back. I should say that these were all float planes.

I got .72 saito and yes I love 4-strokes.
I love them and I'm not even thinking 2 strokes for an engine right now.

Too bad they are expensive, how's magnum ?
especially big ones like 1.20 ?

I run 2 strokes and 4 strokes. Both types have their places. Right now, the planes I have that are flyable have 2 strokes, as does the next one in the air. The following 3 will all have 4 strokes (OS, Saito, and Magnum).

I love 4 stokes too. I even don't think that 2 stoke engines are engines at all. they'r for trainers. thats my opinion.

Tell that to the guys who are running OS 160's, Webers and Jetts, they're definitely not for trainers. It's just what you like and sometimes what you can afford.

I love my 4-strokes and I love my 2-strokes. I love the way my 4-strokes Putt Putt and I love the way my 2-strokes scream. Over the years I have learned the strengths and weaknesses of each type. It is really off-putting to me to see (hear) a Piper Cub screaming around the field with a 2-stroke turning 13K. Likewise, a Q-500 pylon racer with a 4-stroke on the front would certainly elicit a few chuckles from me. I feel a little sorry for those who confine themselves to one type to the exclusion of the other. Just my feelings. .........RJ
