I'm in the midst of building a Top Flite Giant Scale P-47, and I want to add a drop tank, along with wing pylons that release bombs. Now the kit doesn't come with any of this, nor does Top Flite make any after market accessories for bombs in the Giant Scale version. (They do make a drop tank for the smaller verion P-47, which does me no good) Does any one know of any sources out there that sell already made drop tanks, wing pylons, etc?

Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam:

Aerotech models sells pylons and bombs for a 1/6 scale P-47 that they make. Their website states that some of these items will fit on the Top Flite giant scale P-47. I would call them first before ordering. I called about the muffler they advertise to fit in a Yellow Aircraft P-47 and they said that it would not. Here is the link to the accessories page: www.aerotechmodels.com/p47kit.htm

Frank Tiano also sells the bombs and drop tanks but I do not think he sells the pylons. Here is the link www.franktiano.com/store/index.htm. Just click on the scale accessories link.

I've used both Sammy, but for the 1/6th scale Top Flight 47' I feel the AeroTech release is perfect. Their pylon's are quite nice.

I just tried to order the 1/6 scale bombs from Frank Tiano. He is not making any more of these fiberglass bombs. He indicated that they break fairly easily (when dropped) and he is having difficulty getting the fiberglass work done. He does have a limmited stock of some size remaining. But not the 1/6 scale 500lb bombs. I was able to order the 1/6 scale drop tanks. I think he will continue to sell these. I guess my point is, if you want bombs from FTE or Frank Tiano Enterprises you better call him ASAP. His web site indicates some smaller sizes as well. Frank's thoughts were that the drop tanks look better falling/tumbling end over end than the bombs and they dont break as easily.

I'm just finishing up my Yellow Aircraft P-47 and I do have the pylons from AeroTech. They are very nice. I have yet to decide how to make the releasing mechanicals. I think a micro servo would fit inside the pylon, if I can figure out how to get a servo wire to the location?

Thanks to all and your suggestions. I have had a look at the Aerotech site, their products, very nice, and I will probably end up going with them. Just a note though. I was looking around the net, and came across a store called "Dynamic Balsa" I gave them a call, and they also sell a lot scale accessories, bombs/pylons/etc. Maybe another source to look at?
