i as just looking over the plans and realized there is no cowl rings to make the rounded shape on the front of the cowl. now i know this wont be a big deal to produce without plans but i need to know what is the offset of each ring and is the final ring wider then the rest ? im just waiting to hear back from the print shop and for the wood order to arrive and im getting started on one
ps one more question i was thinking of using a ftl45cc from united hobbies any opinions on tht motor in this plane or something similar.
and before anyone says it i will say it now a da or zdz is out of the question just to expensive and to be honest completley over priced IMHO.

Just wanna say great work, its a beautiful looking plane. What program did you use for the design?

I could not agree more, the plane is beautiful - the designer, Bernard Burton (BBT on RCU) did an incredible job. I do not know for certain what program he used for the design, but the files that he and I exchange are in CorelDraw format.

I believe he used a standard Cad program.

A number of folks were having real big problems getting them printed.
To help out with printing problems, BBT sent me his original design file.

Please guys, don't ask for it .
I promised BBT that I would not release the CAD file to nobody.

If someone wanted the M12 reduced or enlarged, I can re-scale and print that, as big as you want!

Look at the plans again. The cowl rings are shown.
Just scale them off your plan.

Perhaps you don't have BBT's plan, but that of someone else??

I havent weighed it properly yet but I think Im looking at about 9.5kg as I sheeted the entire fuse, the donk is a 53cc 3MM gasser which by the feel of it will have a massive amount of grunt she wants to creep forward at idle

skyhawk007,

Just out of curiosity, what covering did you choose for your Pitts? The finish looks great!

I tried to do everything on a tight budget so the cheapest way was tower cover from tower hobbies (yellow) all the black and silver is vinyl decals that a friend made for me at his print factory.

You can get them here : http://gundersonaerodesign.com/products/shortkits/burton/
It is well worth the mony to get them from Rich, very nice plans, and he did a real nice job on the Kits.

... if I remember correctly the plans were drawn for Metric sized wood. That might be another contributing factor to just get the kit/plans from Rich as he's already got the proper sized stock.
