We have now distributed over 1000 free copies of the plans - that's a lot of builders, so let's see some more build photos and videos!

Hi all
I am a Swiss people and I'm from Spiez on Lake Thun.
I fly RC helicopter for 12 years and since about 2 years of RC aircraft.
My current project is a Long Ez Here, the assembly report (in German):

http://rchelitreff.iphpbb3.com/forum/35999648nx48863/flaechen-modelle-elektro-f59/long-eze-t20447.html

I was interested in the Pitts s12. This was due to small Beast by e-Flight.
So I searched the Internet for potential construction plans and has been a find here.
Thank you for the first time in Bernard Burton of the ingenious plans. Excellent!
I will begin this year with the construction and will report.
Sorry, my English is not good (translated with Google Translator).
The official report I will publish here in German:

http://rchelitreff.iphpbb3.com/forum/35999648nx48863/flaechen-modelle-elektro-f59/pitts-s12-t20528.html

But of course here on your side I will report to.

Greez Daniel

Hi BBT, My name is Evandro, and i live in Brazil, I follow the topic to some time and wanted to congratulation you for this excellent airplane. I'm fan of biplanes and was to look a plant when I found its formidable model Pitts. Beautiful work!! already I caught the plant in the site and soon I think about starting the building.

It forgives for my bad English, but it had of to congratulate to it for the excellent work. you could inform which engines and propelers had been good in this model to flight 3d? Thanks

I've started ...

Now I have to build the mini-Pitts already gained some experience and today I decidedto purchase the timber - to purchase a small portion, as it turned out to be yet.

To start, I bought myself for now 1QM 3mm plywood and 1/2Qm 6mm birch plywood. The two together about 120 CHF (about 90 ). Well, the first half of the 13th Monthly wage is indeed at the door ... ;).

At home, I immediately began to transmit the first part by means of carbon paper on the3mm plywood. These are the longitudinal bars - this is the core of the aircraft.

Now is also evident that the wood is rich anywhere where there ...

I'll cut out everything with the Decoupiersäge.
Some of you will ask yourself now sure why I do not use CNC. Sure, that would be would be by far most accurate and most comfortable solution, and the transfer of the plan in theCAD, no problem. The problem is, I know exactly no one who could me a CNC milling machine Inexpensive provide. So stop "hand"is announced - will take longer, but we have no stress ... ;-)

Highfly2, is that meant to be a static or flyable model? If rc controlled you are building waaaaaaaaaay too heavy. At that size you should mainly use balsa, carbon plates if you can afford it and balsa plywood, you should use the plywood only for specific places like landing gear support and firewall..and certainly no need for 3mm for that size either. Dont want to disencourage you but that will end up like a brick...

Grüessli vo mener ex-schwizer!

Hi Petronio
The little Modell is only a static Modell and a little joke

The 3mm and 6mm Plywood is for the RC Pitts Modell with 175cm Wingspan.

Greets from your old home (from where in Swizzerland you come?)
(Es grüessli us Dire alte Heimat (vo wo us der Schwiiz chunsch Du?))

Hi, to all of you guys following this thread.
My name is Sasha and I`m from Montenegro, where RC community is limited to a dozen people.
First of all, I would like to thank to people from "Gunderson Aero Design" for sending the plans.
The moment I saw this plane at my local forum, ( rcfly4um.org ) I was in love with it.
As I never built anything before, I asked an old friend Bato for help, and the build started soon.
We got here after few months:

As you can see, cowl is made from glass fiber, and canopy is trimmed to fit from Yak 54 (extreme flight 88`)
Everything is going smooth at the moment. Engine will be DLE55, servos are ino-lab, and I will try to make my own resonator.
I have a question:
As you can see, I made wing ends from foam, and each added 3 inches of extra wingspan.
What do you think, should I do with a tail now, should I make it larger or live it like that?
(I don't have intentions to fly 3D)

Regards from Montenegro!

Hi saxpg

Beautifully made, your Pitts!

At my Pitts I have continued to be built yet, unfortunately, and unfortunately all I saw out ofhand, buuuuuut:

At the small micro-Pitts I have continued to be built and acquired some knowledge ofbuilding the big Pitts ...

@Petronio: Ke Problem , ha ja jetzt ou verspätig :-). Wie lang läbsch Du jetzt in... Ja, wo überhoupt?

And Now in English :

Now there is no turning back, now I have the plywood cut up into many small parts, whichshould result in the end a plane.
The Saw doing a terrific service and eats through the glued wood, such asthrough butter.
Meanwhile, is also very clear why the model on a nice level surface should be built, asare attached to the Balsawoodstrips, the Plane in very unstable and can be movedeasily
.
(Oh, i hope you understand my terrible English)

Here are the first pictures:

Assembled Provisionally:

Hello everyone. I just wanted to post a quick note to let everyone know that I have decided to close Gunderson AeroDesign effective immediately due to severe limitations on time and balancing work, family, and my entrepreneurial pursuits. Thanks to all for your support over the years! The website has been taken down and we will no longer be distributing the plans for the Pitts.

There are a lot of plans already out there, so I hope to still see some beautiful airplanes coming from the readers of this thread in the future.

Thanks,

Rich

Rich, just out of curiosity, what is the status on the the plastic and glass parts that you had in the kits? Are they still going to be available or are you sold out and done?

Hi,
just to inform you that my baby is airborne
Maiden flight was two days ago, and all I can say is - wow!
This plane is gorgeous in the air.
I had a few issues that would hopefully be resolved in incoming days such as throttle screw that fell of because I forgot to put locktite, main gear that is too weak, and the most important CG - plane is tail-heavy.
Other than this it`s a beauty.
Cowl was off because I thought that my RCG 50 would need some adjustments, but I was wrong - it works like a charm.
Here is a video and a few pictures.
