Edge,

I'll take two sets, how much??

thanks Ward

Let me check with Jim and see if he'll make up some more and if so how much. By two sets, do you mean two pair or four pair?

...........Mark

Mark, Your right, four pair.

thanks Ward

Hey Ward, I sent you a P-mail

Also, if anyone else is interested in a set, Jim might have some available from the first batch. $30 for a set of four. (plus a few bucks freight) Let me know. Jim can take credit cards through his shop as well.

Yep, definately quality machine work. I was up at Jim's shop and picked up my other set for my Extra yesterday. This set is even better than the first! Plus about a gram lighter.

Mark,
Did Jim do the work on your landing gear?

I was wondering if it would be worth it to lighten up a Cuda landing gear a little. I have 2 I'm building and want to put on a diet.

Yes, he did the gear also. Every little bit of weight helps. If you want to get it done, I'd call him soon. He does a lot of motorcycle work and this is his busy time. The sooner you get on his list the better.

Does anyone make carbon fiber gear for the Cuda? That may be your best bet for weight savings. On the larger planes I won't try it anymore as they all seem to delaminate. On a 50cc size plane, you may be able to save weight and have a reliable set of gear.

I haven't done any looking yet for a CF gear. I saw the mod to your gear and just kind of went in that direction. I have been thinking of a CF wing tube for them though. I'll have to look into it.

thanks

I have to cover the wings and horiz stabs, then paint the cowl and canopy. Hoping to have it done in the next few weeks. Work, family stuff, Imac and flying have me tied up and not being able to find a lot of time to finish it up. I want to get it done soon though.

Can anyone share their Imac CG for the Carden Yak? I'm ready to balance mine in the next day or two. Dennis isn't in on the weekends otherwise I'd call him.

Thanks...........Mark

Hi Mark,

Dennis and I CG'd my new Yak the other day, and for IMAC sequence work it seems to work best at 4" - 4.5" from the leading edge at the wing tips. This is working really well for IMAC, and it still retains all the qualities for good 3D work also. My new YAK came in at 36.5 lbs with headers and MTW cans. Terry Boston did a great job of putting it on a diet, and it shows in the way that it flies. Down lines are very slow and ridiculous power on the uplines.

Thanks Frank, I called Dennis this a.m. and he was telling me about yours and where it balanced. I'm glad I called. Last night's measurement around the CG on the plans would mean finding room for the batteries up front. As you know on the Yak that would mean long wires to the switches as the rounded fuse leaves little room to mount the switches. I rebalanced it this morning (My 70 year old neighbor gave me a hand at the other wingtip....quite the strenghth for a seasoned gal ) with the 4 1/4" from the tip that Dennis gave me and whoo haa..........the batteries and receivers can go towards the back of the canopy.....nice and easy install. Here's some pictures. Just need to mount the batteries, switches and she will fly tomorrow! Thanks again Frank. I'll probably pick your brain on some other set-ups after I maiden it.

...............Mark

Could you take a up-close of your wheels & pant for the YAK ? And is that the New DUBRO wheel?

thanks, Ward
