Well, no matter what it costs, this new Yak IMO is the best looking plane Carden has released. I don't care for the looks of their Extra or Edge, but this Yak looks cool.Oh and BTW, just because someone states an opinion on the cost doesn't mean that it is a complaint. Personnaly I don't care if they charge $5000 for a kit. I agree with Mike, as long as they are selling planes why adjust pricing? Nothing wrong with making a good living. I have heard some say that the lines and arrangements on a Yak 54 make it the perfect aerobatic plane. If that is the case this Yak may fly better than the other offerings too.

Let me first say that I think everyone is entitled to their opinion(its called free speech). I have a Carden and I love it. Some of you may think its crazy to pay over 800 bucks for a box of "wood and foam", I can only tell you that my 35% was a challenge to build but it was my first Carden, now having built one and knowing their product there are several steps that I can do alot faster on another one. Back to the pricing of their stuff, I think everyone has heard of inflation and rising costs of materials. I leave the skeptics with this, I have had mine for over 3 years and the airframe is just like the day I finished it, another member in my club in the same time period has had 2 Hangar 9 33%'s and a Comp-ARF all of which their airframes have weakened over time and been replaced. I know some think it is nuts to spends 800 to 1200 dollars on a kit from Carden but I can tell you that my investment has been much better that the afore mentioned club members. Just my opinion

Opinion or complaint, call it what you want. It just seems to me that everytime someone starts a tread with anything about a Carden airplane in it they have to bring up the big $ signs. I to do not care what they cost, its all in what someone wants to pay for the aircraft. I dont want to get into a p---ing match with you or anyone else for that matter but I wish we could keep this tread as it started out and lets talk about the Yak or 260 or what ever other than money, we all know that they are not cheap. Have a great night Bryant330L, look foreword to talking to you again. Happy Landings

Wryman, I for one do not think anyone is crazy for what they spend on this or any other hobby. If that person can aford it thats great. I cant really aford it but I do it anyway, I just love this hobby. As I said I have arfs and a Carden 330 on the way and when my wife finds out I am going to be in deep s--t for sure but this is what I do and have done for 20+ years. As long as people are happy with what they paid for then thats cool, if it flys then I love it. Have a great weekend.

At this point there isnt anything I would do differently on my 260. Perhaps after the weather gets nice and I can get lots of flights on it I'll find a few things, I always do. But at this point no. It is really good.

Wow - how often do you get an airplane like that? Great to hear as the UPS man says the wood will be in my garage on Monday. I appreciate the time you spend here helping us out. Thanks for the reply.

Roger

I sure would like to see a few other views of this YAK. I would like to see the tail group and other areas. To me the only picture I have seen looks more Sukhoi than Yak. Im on the list so my interest is way up there.

I'm working on several projects this winter so I won't have time to build a Carden but I look forward to building one next winter...the Yak looks really nice but who knows what I will decide. I look forward to hearing all the reports on this and the 260.

Sorry guys for my provocation about Carden's price. I did it with purpose to see different opinions about plane I want to buy, and I heard what I expected - this is a great company and their planes really good! Personally I'll buy Yak as soon as it will be available! My brand new DA-150 waiting for plane 3 months already! Of course we need more and detailed pictures. So, Dennis and Caroline please post them here or on your website ASAP!!!
Thanks

No prpblem russian, now all I got to do is save up for a DA150. Mike, I sure like that 260. I cant wait to get my 330 from J&M. Is the 260 really that much better flying than your 330 that you want to sell it? The Yak looks great and will be glad to see a flight video of it. Sorry if I made anyone mad about people talking about Carden prices, there still the best, nuf said.

Good to see the interest in the Carden Yak
Frank Noll is stopping by the shop Sunday to pick it up. We are currently making a paint change on the Canopy, adding orange stripes. The Monokote colors are White.Orange and Metallic Blue.
Frank is going to change the two receivers to the new Receiver and Radio as soon as they come in
We are taking more pictures and they will be posted soon.
I personally believe this will be one of Cardens best designs.
We will assemble it Sunday and get an accurate weight. Sure it will be around the 39-40 lbs.
Keep in mind that it is the Prototype and there were places we could trim a little weight in the construction on the next one.
Good news is Carden will offer a 35% Yak this Fall.
As soon as the weather is good for flying Frank will get it up and post a full Review.

Jim,

Can you post any pics in the bones? Will you be doing the prototype 35% for them, too?

Nice plane, doesn't look much like a Yak-54 though, I think this one would be hard pressed to fit within the 10% rule for IMAC. If it was ever enforced

It's a prototype. I hope they loose the wheel pants, curve the gear and make a scale looking cowl.
