Status: offline 		I got a new CF tailwheel from Pete's Models for the Yak. It's the new one he just started shipping for the larger planes. It looks nice. And the weight is very light, about an ounce lighter that the Graphtec CF tailwheel on my 33%. Very helpful as I'll be installing the rudder servos in the tail and I'm trying to keep the tail as light a possible.

Also, the "Smart Tool" is a real handy tool to have in the shop. I borrowed this one from a friend to set wing incidence and have been finding a lot of uses for it. I set up the motor thrust with it as well. Displays to 1/10th of a degree. If you don't have one buy one (or borrow one like me )

FWIW. The wieght on Troybuilts site seems over stated. Pierre told me 1.6 oz and my scale says that as well.

It looks to be hollow which I'm sure is how he kept the weight down. I have some rubber backed conical washers that I plan to use to keep it from distorting when I baton it down.

You are showing a pic of the tail wheel on a scale. What size tail wheel assembly setup is it ?
I am thinking it is the one for a 40% planes listed on Troy Builts site. Am I correct in this assumption ?

Status: offline 		Yes, I'd say it is based on the size of the wheel itself. I got mine directly from Pete Models. Peirre calls it the heavy duty one, Troybuilt lists it by plane size. Agian, not sure on the weight listed on the TBM site as it's only 1.6 oz. I've got mine all mounted. Looks great.

Status: offline 		Its funny to hear all the coments about how it doesnt look scale. RC yaks are far from scale. And like said earlier if it were perfectlu scale it would fly like crap. Not to mention a scale yak wil do a fraction of the things as rc yak will do. Has anyone ever seen a full scale yak do a waterfall to inverted harrier to roling harrier? I dont think so. If your in to perfectly scale airplanes get ouy of aerobatics and build a cub and enter the TopGun. I personaly dont fly giant scale aerobatics for the scale aperence. I fly them for there exelent flight ability and the NON sacale things they can do. Just my 2 cents. By the way didn't Quique get protested in a event about yaks not having wheel pants? If i remember right he proved that some do have wheel pants and was not disqualified.

Did you weigh your Yak gear yet? Mine came in at 27.5 oz. Hopefully my friend can shave 8 oz off of it for me.


I finally got around to picking up my gear from my friend. He shaved 7 oz off it.

Anyone try wing nuts or the like?

Instead of using the wing bolts as per Carden. You can use 3/8ths hardwood dowel's for anti rotation pins at the stock location front and rear, and use one wing bolt positioned behind the wing tube. On the rear anti rotation dowel, cross drill it and use a snap pin for security...Seen and done many this way....

Status: offline 		I know a few guys have done the wing nut thing. they permanently install the bolt in the wing panel and then slide the wing on and use a wing nut on the inside of the fuse. works great the only complaint Ive heard is you have to be careful when putting on the wing not to tear up the fuselage with the bolt.
