All of my Hitec receivers have come with a cute little rubber boot that slips over the crystal and protects it from banging against the hard plastic of the case.

This boot was also supplied with the new Q-PCM receiver I obtained for the receiver-shootout/review article I'm writing but I find it *impossible* to fit a "booted" crystal through the cutout in the receiver's plastic case.

Is this just a quirk of the receiver I've got or do other Q-PCM receiver users have the same problem?

For the time being I've just wrapped a layer of PVC tape around the crystal but that's a but of a botch-job.

Just received my receiver. If did not come with the typical boot that normally comes with the receivers. Mine included two small blue bands that go around the crystal then the crystal slides in perfect fit.

Hmm... I wonder why mine came with the old boot -- I only bought it a couple of months ago :-(

Perhaps there was a widespread problem using the boot so they changed the design.
