WHat a great thread!! I have had my XRB SR a few weeks now and its a blast!! i broke a good dozen foam blades so far.. THen I sprung for the carbon fiber blades. Since i still didn't have my heli "dialed" and still didn't have any flying skills I still crashed a few times... but when i first put the blades on it seemed to hover really stable. Of course i have hit a book shelf, some kitchen chairs, and the ceiling since then. The blades chip a little bit if you hit hard things with them. I was able to put packaging tape over the chips (then balance them) and they seem to work fine. Unfortunately since these blades are stiff, when i collided with the table i managed to bend the inner shaft for the primary blades. With ALOT of care i can still fly it around a bit, but it creates this funny wobbly oscilation.. If i am flying
"hands off" the heli does this eliptical pattern by itself caused by the bend. I tried to bend it back but these things are almost impossible to get perfect by hand. So i have another main shaft coming in the mail. I'm impressed with the durability of this heli!! i was flying a little too low and in a panic hit the throttle and it rocketed into the ceiling.. it was like an explosion! canopy one way, the stabilizer bar went the other way, and the antenna holder flew off too... and the battery popped off! nothing broken.... or maybe THAT is when i bent the shaft LOL Thanks for all the good reading everybody!! Keep writing stuff!!
I am especially curious to know how the plastic blades work!!

    Happy flying!

    -Scott

XRB Heads, Does any one know of a good source of batteries for the XRB? The stock battery price is crazy and I wondered if anyone else makes or sells batteries that will fit in the XRB without mods to the model? Rick is out of stock at the present time. Thanks, Skip

Woodymax: I tried that mod as well and found that it caused the blades to stall on a turn when flying forward at the increased speeds leading to a crash. I might have drilled the holes a little bit to far from stock but I ended up going back to the stock setup. That model is a hover and orientation trainer. It was not designed for fast forward flight but is still a great first heli!

Woodymax: Thanks, I found the site. I was getting batteries at another place that was selling them for $69.00 and that was nuts! Skip

Purchased the Hirobo XRB 2 weeks ago. New to the hobby and this seems to be an excellent trainer. Been needing alot of adjustment to get into a steady hoover. It wanted to move backwards then had a sideways to the left problem but all adjusted well. Then it wanted to turn to the right which I am working on now. The higher the hoover the steadier it flys. Took it outside but have to watch any breeze for it will get a mind of its own real fast. Taking it very slowly and still needs abit more tweaking. Been checking out RADDS to see if that will be of any benefit. When my control gets better will try the CF blades I picked up on Ebay. Purchased a battery ext from Rickyblaze's site but haven't received a response yet. Very difficult to reach. Must be busy. anyone esle have any info on the Hirobo XRB? Board seems to be running dry.......!

Be careful with those CF blades because when you crash you will break some parts. I quickly went back to the styrofoam blades.

I don't think Radd's will do you any good because the XRB is so easy to fly.

Appreciate the advice on the CF blades. I have them but I am not ready to put them on. Yes the XRB is easy to fly compared to the Dark Knight RC Helo I 1st purchased from Hobbytron. Not real happy with it. Tough to get off the ground. Thats were RADDS may come in handy. I think I should of bought the Venom Nightranger II first because it appears to be a better machine.
About the XRB. It may be easy to fly but in the beginning there is alot of adjustment to be done at least on mine. Never tweak it too far or you almost have to keep notes just to get you back if you do. Want to step up to a tougher machine someday. Always looking at what Align (T-rex) products has to offer. I am new so any advice would greatly be appreciated.

If there is anyone out there who has the Hirobo XRB with this related problem please reply. When it is in the air only the red light stays on and it turns to the right much slower than it does to the left. Is this a gyro problem. How can this problem be fixed? The longer you fly the worse it tends to get. But at times it will surprise you and fly quite well. Whats gives? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Several possibilites (most mentioned somewhere in the XRB manual):

    1. As you fly, the gyro will heat-up and drift (my XRB tends to start with a green light and shift to a red light as it warms-up).
    a. Sometimes it helps to stop for awhile after flying for awhile, to let things cool back down.
    b. Periodically readjusting the rudder trim so that the red light goes off (or turns both red/green) will even out the voltages to the motors, which may help.

    2. The blades are set-up so that the XRB turns to favor turning one way over the other
    - Adjusting the upper blade pitch may help (directions in the manual and at the Hirobo web-site).

    3. Just mentioning this because it has gotten me:
if you move the XRB to another place with a different temperature (like from inside the house to outside),
you need to give it some time for the gyro to adjust the new temperature.
Othewise, the gyro will be adjusting while you are flying and give the XRB some confused commands.

Thanks for the helpful info. I have adjusted the pitch on the upper blades to correct a turning problem. It worked well. I haven't messed with the rudder trim yet as I am not sure what to do. Will have to read the manual on that area alittle closer.
One thing is strange. When I hold the XRB in my hand with the motor running the red and green light function properly when simulating a turn. But when it flies by itself the red light stays on. Go figure..! If I can only get it to respond and turn to the right quicker I think the light would change to green. Have to work on this one. Will post with any results. Later.....!
