This is sooo useful, keep it coming people. Just make this "The Official XRB forum!". Also, I've noticed a review of an XRB which said it cost £180. The XRB SR version cost £299. Where does the extra money go between the XRB and the XRB SR? Is it worth the extra cash?

Get the SR version. The other has a 20' tether. Its not even radio control.

Similar, not identical. The non tethered version is more manuverable and more realistic. You will get bored flying around in 15 foot circles after a few hours.

one place said the tether was only 12 foot. BTW, just got a notification from ehobbies.com that they are in stock now. I got mine at a place called zoomshobbies.com. Also, my bird is spinning in circules. i dont know why yet, maybe cause the battery was getting low of because i didnt balence the blades when i put the new one on. I'm charging it up and im balencing the blades (can i use scotch tape?) and ill try all the other things to adjust it. or do any of you have any suggestions?

Got my XRB on Friday at our brand new lhs, Hurricane Hobbies, here in Columbus. The owner of the store flew it around a few minutes. Now, I have about 3 other micros, and have been very disapointed with them. Cheap, no parts available, etc. He conviced me that parts would be available, and they are.

So far, I have gone through about 3 boxes of blades, totally pilot error. Just need to keep away from the furniture. Anyway, the heli flys great right out of the box. Although the flight times are about 15-20 minutes, it seems longer, with rests. Besides breaking the blades, I have broken the tail boom at the far end, and that is it. Again, this was pilot error.

Last night, it was dead calm outside. A day or so ago, I had tried to fly it outside, with terrible results. Ran into a tree (twice) and lost the flybar, which I found the next day. I was real reluctant to fly it last night, but I couldn't resist. I took it out where there were no trees, and what a blast. It flew great. My wife and neighbors were inpressed and I didn't break a thing. I flew it what seemed like a half hour. What a great time.

As rough as I have been on this, I can't believe I have only broken one part. Trust me, this is the one to get. Like I said, the other micros were terrible, hard to fly, expensive. In my opinion, this now sets the standard for easy to fly helis.

I have been flying my Venture for about a year and it was a little hairy flying it in my back yard. My wife always stayed inside and prayed alot. Now, no problem. Along with a simulator, this is probably one of the best training aids you can get.

Thanks for reading, and have a great time. Gone to the club field today, and when I crash the Venture, I'll just play with the XRB!

lol, we should start a competition, what is the smallest space you've flown your micro heli in. Videos preferably. I wonder is anyones ever flown it in the toilet? lol, for the guys who are DESPERATE to get more flying time under their belt . I can't wait till I get mine, I'm buying it second hand off a guy for £150 (about $230 USD).

I bought mine at Heliproz. $299 with free UPS. Had to wait about a week because they were out of stock. I think they have some left.

Bought mine on Friday and flew it 2 times on Saturday. Never flew any heli before and after one pack I was able to hover some. I flew the 3rd pack full today outside and was able to hover for 5 to 6 minute straight and even move it around some and do a few pierottes. Been a pleasure for me to get such a quaility little heli to learn on. It has really made me want a few other electric heil's down the road.

The XRB is a great first electric heli and is as stable as any electric heli could be. I went for the XRB from all the reading I did and it seemed to be far and away the best starter electric small heli. Many knock offs but they seem to be junk when compared to the Hirobo.

I've had mine like 4 days and im flying really well. flying through doorways and landing in small areas. its scary when it gets knocked around from the prop wash when you go through tight areas. Ive gone through 14 blades already Today i put on the light stabilizer weights, im not seeing a huge differance though. I took it outside and it was awsome. got it about 40 feet away from me but then the breeze kicked up and i had to put it down in the grass. Its much nicer when you dont have to worry about walls and ceilings, and grass is softer than hard wood floors if you crash. but nice slick floors are good to have at first when you slide around alot.

BTW- i tried to lift a 9v battery with a little plug attached to it today and it was a failure. how am i going to power my little wireless camera i want to put on it?

my main question though is... when flying the XRB SR becomes second nature to me will i be able to fly a bigger rc heli with a rotor? Should i also get reflex xtr? And if i get reflex xtr i will have to get a radio. so whats a good base line radio that will work for helis (including the XRB) and planes, and have a jack for the computer. and if it had the trainer thing that would be cool too.

    THANKS

You could get the power from the batterie of the heli, a few pages back there's even someone who sell canopies "ready to fly" with the cam.

The XRB is basically just a more realistic version of the Reflex, if you can fly your micro, you don't need a sim. You will find it remarkably easier when you move up to larger helicopters as they are less prone to propwash/wind etc. Just that their a bit less kind on the wallet WHEN you crash!

A raptor 30/50/90 would be a good step up for some 3D. Basically, the biger the 'chopper, the easier to fly (this rule has exceptions of course).

k thanks for all the info, but i have a few more questions.

-How much harder is it to fly a raptor or other heli compared to the xrb?
-Can a raptor hover by its self like the xrb or are they alot less stable?
-Do you think a sim would still be a good idea, for l
