BDavison, thanks for this great thread.I have learned a ton from all the input. I have about ten years in R/C fixed wing and Zero time with helis but my curiosity got the best of me. I got a Housefly before I knew about the Hirobo but with all the good info I have many flights on the Fly and so far no broken parts. I am hovering and piroeting in an open area about 8 feet square in the Family room. I have knocked the flybar out of it a bunch of times but the plastic blades just hang in there and the flybar just snaps back in. Your comments about the angle of the links joining the flybar and upper blades solved a lot of problems in getting consistent flights after minor crashes, a few degrees change of angle will take out lateral drift problems. Now every time I run into something, I check the angle on the links so the flights are much more consistent. I have also learned that if I'm drifting towards something I can rotate the tail around to the obstacle and the tail will fend the heli off so the blades dont hit. I try to operate no more than 2 feet off the floor cause anything higher just makes a bigger crash. Also I always try to remember to have a plan for every liftoff. Anyway, thanks to this thread I have a pretty good Housefly. DWR.
