Quick question. i figured out the st and trottle adjustment nobs, however any idea what the top nob name "D/R" nob is for. Also, how do you change channels on the controller?

The D/R that appears on top of your grip control is the "Steering Dual Rate" which is used to change the amount of servo movement.
