Indeed I do share the fascination for this truly impressive bird. I can understand the distress while driving, I was riding down the M20 last year when the Memorial flight came over very low and directly over my head (Lanc, Spit, Hurricane). I was on a motorcycle and for a short period of time I was taking absolutely no interest on the road situation. Fortunately nothing happened [&:]

Very dangerous. There should be a warning on the matrix signs of the pending fly over so I could prepare [:D]

Later . . .

nmacwarbirds -> RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters (7/14/2005 11:25 AM)

Dear Graham
I did not attend Cosford as it clashed with my beloved Duxford (flying legends).
I attended Duxford on the sunday it was a fantastic show.
To see the Lancaster Spitfire and Hurricane in the air together, a symbol of a nations
defiance more than sixty years a go and now and in light of the resent events in our Country
it made the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

Hopefully the Boxer will do the trick for your P47.
I was thinking of getting a Fuji 50cc for my 1/6th scale P47 (81 1/2 span)
The P47 will be finished as "No Gut No Glory" the same as the one at Duxford.
Do you know by any chance the BS number for the silver used on the Duxford P47 please.

Regards Phil G.

Dear Gregg
A cracking line up.
The four ship warbird display at wings and wheels , I saw it on the sunday was fantastic.
By the way it looks like our Battle of Britain at RAF Coltishall Norfolk will be on Sunday the 11th
of September and also Saturday the 10th of September for people travelling great distances any chance you and your Dad could attend.

Hi nmacwarbirds,

I have been flying since August last year. I got an H9 P-51 Miss America for Christmas. She flies beautifully. Definitely my favorite. I like her better than my UltraStick. She is my hardest plane to fly, but nothing compared to Fokkers and Sopwiths. An awesome Mustang, though.

Regards,
Mike

P.S.: Thanks a lot for starting this string, awesome idea. Keep it going.

nmacwarbirds -> RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters (7/19/2005 10:48 AM)

Dear Mike
You have done very well indeed to get up to the standard of flying Mustangs and Fokkers etc
in such a short time. How about a nice Spitfire next.
Keep up the good work.

Regards Phil G.[:)]

DaveGee -> RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters (7/25/2005 1:37 AM)

Hi Phil: Looks great! What technique did you use to get such a uniform look to all the squares? Did you have any problems in area where the cowl curves or tapers? Thanks, DaveGee

Ron Daniels -> RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters (7/25/2005 2:05 AM)

Here's a shot of all of my warbirds (and one civilian plane) at once.

I love warbirds, and with the little ones, I can own several at once....

Please ignore the ugly blue thing holding the models. My nice stand only holds three at a time.

Thanks to Richard Barlow for taking this picture at SMALL Canada, in Ottawa on Saturday.

BTW, the Tempest Mk V has retracts, and I was landing it on the mains, as the strong wind made it difficult to judge airspeed for 3 pointing it. It also has working bomb drops, which I finally (after 4 years of waiting) got to use!

Hi nmacwarbirds,

I posted some pictures earlier of my "Miss America" P-51 Mustang. Here are some more pictures. She is fun to fly and flies awesome.

Thanks,

nmacwarbirds -> RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters (7/25/2005 12:01 PM)

Dear Dave
The technique I used for the cowl is this.
I put a piece of cord around the rear of the cowl and then measured the length off of the cord.
Then I measured near the front of the cowl.
So then I worked out how many squares to have, at the rear of the cowl.
Then I divided the front of the cowl measurement by the amount of squares.
This gives you the taper amount. So the width of the rear sqr is say 36mm and the front sqr 32mm.
Dave, is is easier to do than to explain.

Regards Phil G.

nmacwarbirds -> RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters (7/25/2005 12:12 PM)

Dear Ron
Looking good. I had a Cambrian funfighter spitfire some years ago.
It would fit into the car with the wings on, check it over and fill it at the field then launch it.
I had that model for years very cheap to run and easy to transport. There is something to be
said for this size of model.

Regards Phil G.
