Hi Valkommen: I used a 21st Century series 1/6 scale pilot for my P-47. I think it would work in yours, too. Aerotech sells them, but they are available from Blue Box Toys and other sources, as well. Dragon DML makes some very authentic figures, too. Hopefully they won't be too heavy. Just to be sure, I took a drill press to my latest pilot, to reduce the weight some. With the flying suit on, it won't show. Regards, DaveGee

There seems to be a wealth of knowledge on the Spit and P-51, but I have to say that my favorite plane is by far the FW-190D9, does anyone know anything about it in terms of history? It's just such an evil looking plane with that huge long nose, and not to forget the spiral spinner.

Dear AStrovannin
You have got a point there, we are a bit short of 109's and 190's.
Any body out there got any they would like to share with us.

Regards Phil G.

Dear DaveGee

One of the USAAF team has posted a pic of your P47 Thunderbolt, when you were in England.
It is on the Gabreski thread.

Regards Phil G.

Dear Tom
What does the 109 fly like and what size motor do you have in it.

Regards Phil G.

Phil

My 109 flies really well. It weigh over 30 pounds with 3 1/2# of that being nose weight. Mine is powered with a 4.2 cu gasser.

If you can fly a large sport plane, you wouldn't have any trouble with this.

Dear Astovannin
I found this on the net, not much but it' a start.

Brief History: The Fw 190 is widely regarded as Germany's best fighter aircraft of World War II. Its appearance in the skies over France in early 1941 was a rude shock to the Allies, as it was clearly superior to any other plane. For nearly a year, until the debut of the Spitfire IX, the Fw 190 was the unmatched champion of the air war.

As the war progressed, the Fw 190 was developed into many variants as a pure fighter, a ground-attack fighter/bomber, and as a close-support aircraft. No fewer than 40 different versions were produced, with different combinations of engines, armament, wings, systems, and roles.

First flown on 1 June 1939, the Fw 190 served for the duration of the war, largely replacing several other aircraft types in the process, including the Junker Ju 87 Stuka dive bomber. Allied bombers dreaded the sight of these potent aircraft, as did the fighters who provided cover for them. Arguably, the Fw 190's greatest impact on the Allied war effort was to spur ever-greater advances in technology and aircraft design to counter its threat.

Nicknames: Butcher Bird; Dora; Kangaroo (Fw 190 V18/U1 variant)

Performance:
Maximum Speed: 408 mph
Ceiling: 37,400 ft.

Dear All
We have not had a P38 posted yet.
We don't have one finished at our club yet, but we do have one under construction.
It is the P38 from the Ziroli plans. It is being built by Peter Reed, this is only the third
model he has ever built. The two others being the Stearman (Flair) and the P40 (Jerry Bates).
Regards Phil G.

I was just over Unteroffizer's (That's his name here on RCU) house for some Spitfire assistance. He's putting final weathering touches on his Vailly FW190A8/R2 'Black 8'. He's been working on this scratch built 'bomber killer version' for almost 4 years and it is a thing of artistic beauty and fantastic engineering. His ability to bring out the scale features and appearence all the while maintining total practicality and convenience is astounding. Here's the link, it's a PDF file so it may take a moment to load.

http://www.dc-rc.org/PDF/News%20let%20Nov04.PDF

The plane is slated to compete this year, I am only providing you with a link to the pictures of it. I'm not sure how much exposure Unter want's on his plane at this point. I can tell you it is incomplete in the pictures and they do not even come close to showing the detail and quality in this model. It flew it's maiden flight the day the photos were taken, all went well.

Maybe ES335 could post a pic or two of his 109 under construction here ?

Funny, I'm surrounded by the luftwaffe here in the good old Balitmore area. Kinda like being back in 1940 when the odds were stacked.
