Even though I won't be able to fly it for a long time - I am learning to fly properly on a high wing trainer with buddy lead, I recently bought a small Mick Reeves Spitfire from E-bay. Seeing this hanging up & waiting to fly one day inspires me to carry on learning. I am in the process of refurbishing it, can anyone tell me where to get 5 inch self adhesive roundels in the UK?

Dear Pete
The Spitfire looks very nice, I had one of those about thirty years a go.
They really fly very well, in my opinion you are two steps away from flying it.

Get plenty of time on your trainer, then you need to go onto a low winger and learn some aerobatics.
Finally you need a tail dragger, you need to be able to handle the swing on take off.
The MR Spit I had would swing quite a lot.

What ever way you go good luck, once you have flown a Warbird you will be hooked.

Happy New Year.
Regards Phil G.

Andy & Phil many thanks to each of you for the advice.

I certainly won't be taking to the skies with the Spitfire until I have completed the sort of training you suggest.

Out of interest should I leave the rear wheel to castor? I have put a bolt in to keep it straight.

Pete, Trust me you need the tail locked or preferably in sync with the rudder. I had a free running tail wheel and it swung into wind with the slightest of breezes. I know Phil will advise this because he recommended it to me

I am re-building the Spitty soon and will be modifying the tail wheel to steer.

I will PM you about the markings.

JoLLy
