Hello Graham, Thanks for the compliments. I've started the collection of parts needed and have gear out for repairs. The gear is by Robart. I'll post more pics.

Phil G. Yes its a Ziroli. She weighed in just under 50 lbs wet. A bit heavier than I was wanting. She flies very well. Gets airborn in about 250 feet. Doesn't take alot of control throw. Set up per Zirolis throws. Need to land a bit faster than I've been.
Regards, G.

Here is the pilot Bill Behrns. Was an honor to meet the man. The look on his face when he saw the plane for the first time, was priceless.

Hi Phil,

A nice bit of balsa bashing!!! nice!!!! looks like the P40 is nearly finished! my builder has now been sent the parts to start the Don Smith Tigercat, hope to have that back around the end of the summer, im still waiting on cowls . canopy and the Sierra retracts so i hope to have that out for next year......

ive been doing a '90" ish FW190 for a friend, its one of the old kits that Unitracts used to sell, hopefully he will bring it up to one of your flyins..... if you have anymore!!

Keep up the good work and let us know of any dates for any flyins, oh and btw have you anymore spaces for members at Coltishall?

Thought I might join in on the war birds thing
MY Ziroli P38 Lightning and F6F Hellcat plus my thunderbolt which is no more so I am looking at replacing it with a Meister Thunderbolt.
The P38 is ready for a maiden flight, is there anything that other P38 flyers might have to say about the flights on these planes

Hi artechdesign,

Your California Cutie looks great, where did you get your decals from???
I'm just in the proces of refurbing my P38 and I will get some pics up soon,so I can't help you out on the flying, but what is a must, you have to have your engines singing perfectly, and you must have a long gradual roll out on take off to avoid that tork roll!!!!!

Artechdesign, can you give us P38 lovers some more picks of your Cutie and a list of gear you have used for your bird.

Cheers Graham.

Hi artechdesign

She looks so good, but zenoha 62's she will go like a rocket, you have got to watch out for that tork roll with them, all I have in my 38 is Zenoha 38's,I did have some taxi trials with her and she seemed to have plenty of poke with the 38's.
Here is the link to our refurb for Little Buckaroo, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6952042/anchors_7021353/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#7021353

Cheers Graham.

The California Cutie looks lovely.
I must agree with Graham, the Zenoah's seem a bit on the large side.
Peter has Fuji 50's in his P38, even that seems slightly over kill.

I wonder how difficult it would be to reverse one of the engines plus get a prop for it.

Dave, yes there are places at Colt.
Have you Boys joined, I have not been notified if you have.

All being well we will have some events this year at Colt.
2008 is the 80th anniversary year of the Norwich model aero club.

Our licence to use Colt is now on a six monthly basis, the current licence runs out
at the end of April. So hopefully another will be granted after that.

As you might have heard, Colt is to become a Category 3 Prison.
So what the long term future holds we are not sure.
There seems no reason to me why we can't continue using it.

Regards Phil G.
