Here's a link I came across surfing for more info on MkXIV's, pics of the XIV are hard to come by, so lots of surfin'.

Tha article is written by Jeff Ethell, I had the opportunity to meet him at the Smithsonian here in Washington. A fantastically nice and courteous man, with all the folks he met in a day, he still treated me as if I was the most important. RIP

You'll enjoy !

http://www.supermarine-spitfire.co.uk/flying.html

Amazing to see how much of the real plane's characteristics continue in the model, all spits I have flown have the elevator sensitivity and dull ailerons, with the elliptical wing, you can see the ailerons moving huge amounts for the reaction you get, and that swing on takeoff, even on the aerodynamically compromised ARF's

Dear Jetster
A very. very nice 190 you have there.
How big is the engine, and how does it fly.

Regards Phil G.
PS. Sorry I just saw the engine size on your post.

Phil the meister 190 is the best flying warbird in my hanger, will fly fast or slow, this one timed at 127mph,but will land at a crawl, heres three, with very happy owners. Rich

Dear All
Thank you for your posts.
It is nice that we share our Warbird pics, and fullsize information etc.
The Corsair looks very nice and the three 190's look superb.
The 190 looks to me, like it means business it looks like a killing machine.
Butcher Bird being an appropriate name for it.
Most of the other WW2 fighters seem to pretty to be killers.
Just my opinion.

Regards Phil G.

Hey Phil G

That pic's mine (dave Gee's P47 at Boxted)

I'd love to be involved with the USAAF team but sadly I'm not, the only link I have with Boxted is I live round the corner and its my flying field, I met Dave Gee there and spoke for short while, very nice guy, and his P47 is outstanding.

Cheers

Lee

Phil,

The runway at Bickley has been doubled in size over the last year and will be very good by the time the Scale day arrives. We also hold a jet meet there every year to which loads attend. Although the new bit was quite rough last year its looking very good now, and if the jets have no problems on it then warbirds will be fine.

Anyone is welcome to attend. They are always very good, relaxed days and get better every year.

Yes, my dad has got the moulded Fuz spit. This probably isn't the right place to moan about it, but it aint good!!!

Gregg

Phil,

Do you know much about 'Practical Models UK', I've been emailing to get pricing on their exhaust for my two spit projects but seem to be on ignore. I have an FW190 to sell and a potential buyer. I need to know how much this stuff cost so I can price the 190 accordingly.

Looks like really nice stuff and would be perfect for my BT MkI.

Dear Lee
I saw on another thread that you are working on a P47, hope that goes well.
Any chance of some pics of it on this thread please.
If you are interested we are having a couple of invitational events at RAF Coltishall (Norfolk).
This year, they are on Sat 30th April Sun 1st of May and Mon 2nd of May.
We are looking for Jet's(scale), Warbirds and any scale model.

Our Battle of Britain commemorative event will be held on Sat 3rd of Sept and Sun 4th of Sept.

Regards Phil G.
