I thought I would start a thread for those who love World War Two
Fighters. Be it British, American, German, Japanese, Russian, French, etc, etc.
I love Em.
I will start the ball rolling with some pics of my Spitfire, P51D Mustang and Spitfire in flight.
I have just started to build a 1/4 scale Spit IX, from the MIck Reeves plans.
I will start a seperate thread for that.

Status: offline 		sorry to hear that serpente, maybe she went in out of smpathy for my TF P40 that went in?

some pics of various warbirds of mine and of the late departed P40 though her wheels and retracts live on thanks to ebay!! oh and the batteries and on board glow have been transferred to other planes as did the engine once I rebuilt it lol

I think the next model is going to have to be the P40.
That is once I have finished the P47, Eurosport, and 1/4 scale Spit.
The sharks teeth on the P40 always look right to me.
I have seen them on Spit's and Mustangs and they just don't seem right.
Just my opinion.

And it was the RAF Tomahaws in Nth africa that started the trend, Flying tigers copied the idea afterwards.

My history is letting me down a bit here.
What did the Corsairs come up against during the Korean War.
Was it Mig 15's, if so how did they fare against them.

Status: offline 		I'm not an expert on the Korean Conflict but I believe the F4U was used mainly in the ground attack role. The Navy used F9F Panter jets for cover. Before the Mig 15 became involved I think the North Koreans were flying Russian prop aircraft such as Yaks.

Status: offline 		I think the Migs were the first planes the Koreans and the Chinese used.The F-51 was our main stay untill we got the Panther.The F4U was used for ground support especially for the Marines,very tough plane.

Status: offline 		here is my Vakhmistrov Z-1 with a pair of Russian Tupolev 1-4, fighters on their mother ship, 81" wing span Tupolev TB-1 Bomber. all 3 to be electric powered and 3 radio's required. pursuit release is by full elevator up, which pulls pin out of fwd hold own. supposed to work. it/they will be completed when the 81" Fokker Cll i in the air. when the $$$ start flowing my way again. dick

Status: offline 		I think you might all agree, what a fantastic collection of warbirds.
All these pictures show us all why we love the warbirds so much.
And what a wonderful hobby we all indulge in. It can be frustrating
at times and extremely difficult. I think that is why we go there, there
is no doubt in my mind that warbirds are harder to build and to fly.
As you can all see from all the pics on this thread, it is all worth it in the end.

Do you think it might be a good idea, if we state size, scale and who produces
the plans/kit etc. So that anybody who would like to build a particular model can do so.
Ther is about fifty of the above I would like to build.( Are we allowed to do that here. I have no connection to any manufacturer.)

Phil G., the F4U was used for close ground support but, as I recall, a Corsair did manage to shoot down a Mig-15 one time. Here are a couple more photos just for grins. The Rendova is the jeep carrier that VMF-212 flew off of but sometimes they flew from ground bases in S. Korea. I guess you can tell I'm proud of my father.

Notice the damage to the plane that just landed on the carrier, proof that straight & level at low altitude is a NO NO.

We are all proud of our Father's, my Father was in the Homeguard (England)
during World War Two. He used to work on the land during the day, and out patrolling
with the homeguard during the night. How they managed to cope with that I don't know.
Unfortunately he is no longer with us, hopefully he has gone to a better place.

I can see why you are extremely proud of your Dad.
When we look at these veterans now an see how old and frail they have become.
It is hard to believe that they were once young men.
And the acts of shear bravery they performed on a daily basis,
it beggers believe. They are in my opinion the Bravest of the brave.

Status: offline 		The 'B' is technically a RAF MkIII, it's not a kit, just the TF ARC 1/5 P-51D Mustang converted to 315 squadron MkIII specs. Power is G-45, robarts, custom cockpit, pilot figure, all digital servos, two batteries, switches, all up at 23lbs. Just buttoned up the cockpit last night so it's on to the balancer. Little nose heavy now.

Ziroli 450 squadron Kittyhawk MkIa (P40E), sachs 4.2, glass fuse, robarts, two RX's, two batteries, two switches, all digital servos, 29-30lbs

Vailly 130 squadron SEAC Thunderbolt MkI, precision eagle 4.2, same setup as P-40, 33-34lbs.

GSP Jg300 FW190A8 (For sale) G-26, robart mechanicals, flies real nice. Selling to get stuff for my Y/A Spit MkXIV.

I've been having problems adding some more photos, will do as soon as I can.
