RE: DETAILING AND FLYING DH-82a IN TIGER SCHEME
Hello,
In case you are wondering what happened to this thread, let me assure you that the photos are coming. I have been working on this craft and I only have the upper wing to paint before I can assemble them together. Watch out for some spectacular photographs!!! By the way, I cannot locate the actual photo of the actual plane so I had to rely on Mr. Fursman's plane for reference. The serial number for this plane is VH-ASC and it was flown in New Zeland. Can anyone help?
Dai Phan

RE: DETAILING AND FLYING DH-82a IN TIGER SCHEME
Hello,
I have been working on this plane and it is almost done. I use Createx Auto Air chrome yellow which is a very close match for the Cub Yellow; flame yellow for lighter yellow and white. I had to rely on Mr. Fursman's plane since I could NOT locate any pictures of the real thing. It is very very unusual that it is not available despite exhaustive internet search for such a unique color scheme. After the black stripes are applied, I use the brush and "dap" it to get the "hairy" outline. It is easy but tedious and quite boring procedure. Tonite I will finish the top wing. The VH-ASC serial number will be printed and applied via decals. I power mine with AXI brushless motor swinging a 15X7 prop. Hope you enjoy this project. Maybe I should send a picture of my Moth and Bird Dog to Model Airplane News for publication? Let me know how you like it as feedbacks will give me incentives to finish it faster. We fly at Albuquerque Ballon Park on weekends so please come and join us. Dai Phan

Hello,
I am reviving this thread since I have done some additional work to the plane. The whole tiger stripes are all painted and now I am ready to paint the cowl with the Tiger face. All electronics are installed. I will post some pictures today on the updates. Dai Phan

RE: DETAILING AND FLYING DH-82a IN TIGER SCHEME
Hello,
Well my TM finally took flight at the Albuquerque Fiesta Balloon Park on 7/30/05. The first flight was perfect and everybody is commenting on how nice it look in the air... On the second flight, the plane suddenly veered to the right past vertical and impacted nose on from 50 feet. Control was regained a fraction of a second but there was not enough room for recovery. The plane was test flown by our club best pilot so pilot error was not the issue. The radio is my proven Multiplex Evo 9 with brand new reciever, battery (which was check pre and post flight to be normal). Everything was preflighted accordingly.... A sad ending to such a beautiful scale airplane!

I don't know which is worse, the prediction or the reality: []

I accidentally back up my car into it and completetly totaled it! Due to the extent of the "mental anguish" that I lamented on myself, my doctor ordered me not to talk about plane or even see one until 2 years later. The carnage infront of my drive way prompted animal control action since it resembled a dead cat!
