beaggs, Well, this plane belongs to my Father-in-law, Bill. He has had hand surgery recently, so the UCD sits until he recovers I suppose. It's ready to fly, so we'll get it back up sooner or later. It's a fine little plane if you stiffen the fuse up a bit. I used CF bars down the keel and either side of the front to make it more rigid. It is very loose in the tail without stiffening, makes it fly very strange. The battery will rip through the canopy section in a crash. Need to line the inside with some duct tape or something to prevent ugly tears. Front end breaks pretty easy in front of the wing. The side CF strips help, but I think I would push CF bars into the fuse from the firewall to really beef it up. Don't use hot-glue... foam-safe CA works well. Use Gorilla Glue to mount the motor stick. We upgraded to a brushless inrunner from Dymond, the COOL S 4200 with 5:1 gearbox, stock #23712. The stock motor fried on the third flight. $69 WITH a 25 amp ESC, great deal. Direct replacement, no mods. Keep it light, it flys well. Pretty agile, but sure is ugly. Have not flown it enough to see if it hovers well. I recommend a 1300-1500 mAH 12-15C to keep the weight down. I like the Dymond HD 1500 mAH 12C for only $39, GREAT battery at the weight of a 1300 class battery. We put in the ultra-light Dymond D47 Servos too... these are 1/2 the weight of the HS-55, yet stronger AND faster too. Great quality. PERFECT for sub-20 oz planes to help keep it real light. Damn, I sound like a Dymond salesman ... eehhhh... it's good quality stuff at a great price, mostly imported from Germany (batteries from China, but very nice). Can't remember any other primary issues, but, like I said, it's only been in the air like 6 times, crashed once. Maybe we'll take it out day-after Christmas... it's a flying day for the whole crew. We have 2 birds to maiden, and a few dusty ones are com'in out to streatch thier wings.
