Hi all,

I am a newbie at this so please save the laffs for later! I have a Ready 2 trainer which I want to fit one of those smart fuel fillers from Dobro. trouble is I don't have enough information to finish the job!

Please see my schematic here: http://home.clara.net/chris-while/RC/Drawing1.jpg

This is currently where I am at. I can't quite figure out how I connect the fuel filler and the feed from the tank to the carb! I'm sure this is an easy one, please save the tomatoes until I get her into the air (and keep it there for more than a minute!)

Thanks all

Chris

On a trainer, since the engine is out in the open, I would not use a filler valve. Just disconnect the carb line and fill through it. If you do use a filler valve you don't need to use the 3rd line in the tank. If it's not open, don't open it. If it is open, you'll need to seal it. I made a 'very rough' drawing of a 2 line system with filler valve.

Thanks for this thread - I've run into the exact same situation and have been researching the 3 line vs 2 line filling design for a week or so - glad you folks put up the schematics as they are very helpful. I built my tank as a 3 line system thinking I'd have trouble disconnecting the line from the carb inside the cowl, but then got the GP Easy Fueler Valve which makes it a clean installation for a 2 line system. Any suggestions on what I should use to seal my open 3rd line? Is epoxy a possibility or does the fuel act like alcohol and loosen it up?

Thanks for those - I am going to use an aluminum stopper, they are cheap and seem to do the job well - as a short term measure at least. Longer term I am going to order a new bung with only two holes in it! Take a look here

Thanks again!!

Eventually epoxy would be damaged by the alcohol but it might take a really long time before it matters. I wouldn't risk it.
You could use about an inch of line with one of these plugs

Brass tubing can be squeezed flat with pliers and sealed with solder.
