    Hi Guys,
I am building a Pepino 1/4 scale Waco YMF-5 at the moment, I think it has to be one of the prettiest planes ever built. Anyhow I am adding to an existing Pepino thread in the scale building forum if any of you are interested you can check it out. I have the wings built and the fuse internal structure framed up. I am now working on building a functional scale tail gear. The plane will be finished with the same methods as my Cub and will be powered by a 50cc gasser.
    Later!
    Anthony

I've been busy at work but finally had a day for myself, I managed to complete the fuse and started on the cowl installation. I purchased the fiberglass masters cowls, very nice. I cut the cowl an 1/8" below the thrust line to make an upper and lower half as discussed. Everything turned out better than I thought, all I need to do now is install a 1/64" ply lip on the upper half and secure it to the lower. I posted a few pics.

    Hello Anthony.

I just wonder what type of wood and dimensions you are using when you construct the open window in this Picture?

    Thank you for all help!

    Best regards,

I believe I used 1/4"x3/8" spruce to construct the frame.

Can anyone direct me to some photo's of servo installation in the fuselage of the Sig 1/4 scale cub.
I'm basicly looking for ideas at this stage.
    Thanks a lot.

You can see how I installed mine on page 5 of this thread,
They are mounted right behind the rear seat. I can access the servo's by removeing the rear seat. You can also make an access hatch on the bottom of the fuse and mount the servo's inverted in the same location, this would make maintenance a little easier. My throttle cable runs just under the door along the inside wall of the cockpit. The elevator control is a straight shot back and the rudder is pull/pull.
    Hope this helps!
    Anthony

Same as Anthony for me, but I dont have any seats to remove. Pull-pull rudder and single pushrod made from arrow shaft and 4-40 rods for elevator.

    No Problem,
I am very surprised that this thread still gets some traffic after all this time. I am glad people enjoy it.

i own that cub with the split cowl. it had an os 160 twin which i have sold and i have a g23 to put in it.
it is a sig kit. but i have a question:
the upper part of the fuse right behind the firewall seems to be a solid piece of balsa. in order for me to mount that g23 i need to put some t-nuts or some other type of mounting system where that solid block is. in other words, i need access to the rear of the firewall.
will i have to take that whole thing apart, mount the motor, and put it back together?
or is there an easier way to get my gasser on there. i would rather not have to chop up my brand new cub but it seems like i am out of options.
BTW - i would be willing to trade that split cowl for a new sig cowl & dummy engine if anyone's interested

what if you were to take some ply, drill the mount holes, in the new ply and the original firewall so's it will line up, then put the T nuts on the new ply then epoxy it to the old firewall? it may work.

That fuse is pretty big, I would think you would be able to drill the holes are reach in from the cockpit and install the blind nuts. Been a long time since I built my Cub so it's a little hard to remember.
Here are a few pics of the Pepino designed Waco YMF-5 I am finishing up.
