On 7-27-02, I posted Dago Red Demise ( RIP ).

I tried to describe some of the conditions we face up here in the High Desert. I think some....may have taken the story with a " grain of salt ". Things got a little "nasty" today...a few breezes.

This is what I described as a " dirt wall ".....Pic #1

These mini tornados are very common in the Aussie outback. We call them 'Willy Willies'
One of these sprang up right in front of my Sig Kougar during landing approach. I was stunned to see the aircraft buffetted around like a rag doll only to emerge unscathed, right itself and proceed to make a perfect landing.
I still have this airplane 20 years later.
I wonder if this is the longest surviving operational Kougar?

I was once at a fly-in. A dust devil touched down in the area where a lot of the models were displayed in front of the crowd. It was an awesome sight to see, a little dust devil full of model airplanes. There were about 10 damaged airplanes with 3 being mine. Two were serious the other was just scratched up.
