I just purchased a century hummingbird v3 100% RTF and I have 2 questions.

1: Where should I put the antenna? It came coiled around one of the skids. It is wrapped about 2 turns then knotted and wrapped about 10-15 more times. Should I unwrap the wire to where its knotted? unwrap it all? or leave it alone. It controls ok in my practice area (a 10'x10' area) but i'm concerned with when i get outside with it. I do not want it to detect its new found freedom, throw off the shackles of slavery and fly away never to return.

2: My battery pack acts wierd. it is rated at 8.4V (7 cell NIMH). After charging it sits at about 10.2-10.5 volts. after running the predetermined 5-10 minutes the heli dies immediately and spasticly. First the tail rotor twitches causing the helicopter to spin around uncontrollably. If for some reason i get it on the ground in one piece when this happens, the main rotor starts slowing (of course). If i let it spin until the rotor produces no lift at 100% throttle the battery pack reads 8.5 volts pretty consistantly. This is still above the rated voltage. Is the "5-in-1 modulator" going bad? Is this normal? The way I understand NIMH they should start at 1.4v per cell (or around 9.8v per cell). In the first 5% of life this drops to 1.2V (or the 8.4V). For the next 80% this stays almost constant. in the last 15-20% the voltage sharply drops to eventually 0.

on a side note. is there any real benifit in getting the 9.6v pack for the beginner? Also has anybody toyed around with building thier own battery packs? I have found a source of jpe(?) connectors and 800-1000mah NIMH batterys that will allow me to build a pack for about $3-5 each.

Ok make it 42 questions.

All the way? Do I just let it drag? I love how the instructions that came with it didn't even MENTION the antenna in fact it wasn't even in the pictures coiled or otherwise. What happens to it when I start trying some simple aerobatics? (specifically the stall turn. I calculated thats about all I will be able to do with my current config)

I did see a post about coiling it around a pencil to shorten it without signal loss, but that was for an rc plane. I've also checked out the micro antennas. Are they worth anything or are they just like the stickers for cellphones .

i think the 90 minute "charger" (just a stupid adaptor with a plug on it) is 200ma. I might be wrong. calculations point more toward 500-550ma. The adaptor heats up ALOT .. as in hard to touch it hot. the battery stays cool until about 90 minute point. I should be getting a Hitec CG-340 CG340 Fast Peak Charger sometime soon. maybe. If I can locate a 4 amp 12v power supply that doesn't include a battery, jumper cables, air compressor, flashlight, radio, playstation console, and coffee maker. or an ac powered charger that isnt $500

I've had the helicopter for about 4 days now. I guess 7 cycles. well 5 full cycles and 2 half recharges. One run aborted to repair tail rigging and one to repair shattered rotor.
I will say this thing is durable.
