I'm just about finished with my 72" sport pattern plane. I'ts call a "Corvette", old school from years ago. I have an OS .61FX with a Mac tuned pipe. What size props should I start out with and what brand? Wood or plastic?

I have the same setup on my Bridi XLT and going with what the engine manual states 12 x 6 initially and see how she does. Hadn't flown or tested the engine yet but will post when I do. The manual states that a 12 x 6 or 12 x 7 is the recommended prop. I know from the old pattern days everyone was using a 11 x 7.5 and revving the hell out of the engines to get the power they needed. But engine porting designs are much different these days and I'm sure OS did some testing to come up with the props they recommended.

Course proof is alway in the pudding.....

Cheers,

for pattern I'm going with wood props. APC's just don't have the quality and take some serious work to get balanced. Carbon fiber props are too expensive for my budget but are favored by a few of the guys.

Cheers,

Thanks tschuy, my manual shows only sport and it list 12x6-12x8, 13x6-13x7 but the paper that came with the Mac pipe says to use 11x7 unless long stroke use 12x8. It says to use a Zingali prop, I'm not sure if they even make those anymore. Must be some old pipes. I think I will start with a 12x7.
