I used the KMP cockpit kit.... modified several things to accomodate my batt(fuel tank!)

If you check the following posts in this forum there a pics and details......

#679 - Description of systems
#685 - Bombbay
#690 - Bombs and drop mechinism
#691 - Rotating Turret etc
#692 - Cockpit (notice the back wall is modified to allow for my battery below the turret mechanics
#693 - Tail gunner (not fininshed in this pic) and Retract stuff
#694 - electronics and bussiness part of fusalage

Also in referance to your lights..... I used RAM lights and modified them all! I also installed a switch to turn on the landing
lights when the gear comes down (for realism). I didn't put all my lights in the scale positions. Some B25's had them in different
locations than others I found. If u use the basic RAM nav light kit then modify it to suit your needs. RAM has alot of choices out there, just get a couple and start hacking! lol. I screwed up and put on a strobe (which didn't exist at the time!) but it sure looks COOL! lmao

Good luck

Hope this helps!

Stu

KMP B-25 - New News?

96" wingspan is certianly nice and would be a real crowd draw. The problam in one respect is, that at that size, it cant do scale fly overs in formation and do bombing runs with the TF, H9 and current KMP 80-88" size planes and look right. It would be like a big elephant flying next to a few smaller sized animals.
This is part of the reason I nixed the idea of getting the H9 B-25 since the size was 8" smaller then the TF one. Next to eachother, the TF would dwarf the H9. Thus, I acquired a current version KMP 85" one.

Anyone like to guess what this new KMP 96" B-25 might weigh? A base Ziroli 101" B-25 built traditionally from balsa and ply can be done around 30lb, less if iron-on is used up to around 36lb decked out in a detailed glass finished with gear doors, lights etc and even up to 42lb for an early electric version.

Does an all composite construction offer a possible weight saving as well as a hard wearing, scaled detailed surface?

Reposting Original Content as this was pulled from the TF B-25 list.

KMP B-25 - New News?

I haven’t been following this thread, but have been in the market for a large B-25. This may be new news to you all or not. It was to me and based on advice of my friend, I’m sharing it with you all.

Understanding that KMP was reworking their B-25, I decided to contact them to find out what I could about it. Calling KMP (here in the US) directly yielded some, but not much. So, I called YT International in the UK and had a good discussion with a guy about what’s coming. Here are the basics of what I learned about the new KMP B-25:

- Wing span will be 96”
- Designed for twin 90 4cycle engines
- Lots of scale detail! A few tid bits he offered
--> pinned, scale, hinges
--> new scale retracts
--> choice of model. You can get the glass nose OR the hardened nose like the B-25H

They choose to make the B-25 larger for 2 reasons.
First, they don’t want the new B-25 to be directly compared with the H9 and Top Flight 25’s. His perspective is that many buyers do evaluation based on wing span and price. They are designing a high quality, very scale, B-25 to target the discerning scale flyer who will appreciate the plane.
Second, he said that larger planes, in general, fly better. Clearly, there are lots of factors that go into good flying, but for a given design, as you increase size you typically improve flying characteristics.

I didn’t ask about price. Given exchange rates and the fact that they are just a step in the chain before the kits come to the US, seems unlikely to get a meaningful number. HOWEVER, I did ask the US KMP sales rep what he expected the price of the new B-25 to be. He said that it’d be in the $1000 range. I interpret that to be in the range $1000 - $1500 (including retracts).

New B-25 will be available in the US in Nov or December.

Well now you now all I do on the KMP B-25. Hope this was useful.

After so long or sitting on the shelf, mine should be ready in about a month also (it's the first generation with the main gear wheels facing inboard to each other) and wondered if anyone used the original stock 8.5 oz tanks and how long they usaully got from them (i'm running OS70FS). Cheers,
Dave

I use the stock tanks and fly for 10 min then land and still have fuel left over. I am now running two RVC 90's.

This is one great flying twin.

Thanks n9931v,
I intended to run it on the ground and time it for full throttle duration, but was debating pulling the tanks out and fitting larger before the first flight. I'll see if it survives the maiden before getting too excited...

I would change the tanks if it was me. A good one that fits and what I used finally was this one. Very little mod needed. It gives the measurements so check it out. It is 14oz.

In my plane, the O.S. .70's consumed about 7 oz. after flying for about 12 minutes--that's "scale-like" flight on a warbird (partial throttle settings, some full throttle, some low throttle, etc.).
