Fellow KMP B-25 fans:

Latest news for the re-tooled B-25 is now on the KMP web site (but no photos, yet): http://www.kmp.ca/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=31&osCsid=5cd39200f7416d6c538666882e373fc0

Won't be a mere 96" wingspan! Can you say "103 inches!" Whoa!

$700 list with composite fuselage and built up wing. Add $400 (!!!) for the composite version of the wing. Another $250 for the retracts.

Plugging these into a spreadsheet that includes dual Saito 100s, on-board glow, rudder gyro, DECENT servos, syth. PCM receiver and all the other stuff, this baby's now up to about $3000 without fuel in the tanks! Cha-ching!

That price should make your hands shake on maiden!!

I just signed for the new B-25 we're building for the WRAM show and the Toledo show.

It arrived in one box from China (along with an A-1H for the same purpose).

We'll have the B-25 assembled by Tuesday at the latest, (and shipped to WRAM by Wednesday!), which means that I should have some nice pictures on the website by Wednesday as well (possibly sooner). So... You may want to take a look there on Tuesday and Wednesday for more pics.

We took it all out today, and it looks pretty spectacular. It doesn't look much bigger until you have the canopy in your hand.

Lots of very nice scale details, the factory has really outdone themselves if it flies anywhere near as well as it looks!!!

Paul,

That is AWESOME news!

There's at least two of us in our club's "warbird squadron," myself included, that have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this baby!!

These will make a total of two of the KMP Gen 1 B-25's and two of the KMP Gen 2 B-25's in a club with only about 50 members, total.

Can't wait to see, AND HEAR, all four of these in the air at the same time...

Rip

Just started removing pieces from the boxes to inspect. One canopy was cracked badly. Paul at KMP asked for pictures and said he should have a replacement available.

I'm hoping to put mine together for this summer. Planning on getting it built and flying without any detail work for now. Not even going to put on decals yet as I want to model the one that is at our balloon festival every year. The fullscale are awsome to see flying and this "local" one was the first one I ever saw fly.

I am trying to figure out a way to keep the wing halves as two pieces for easier transport. I need to go back and re-read the thread as I dont recall if anyone attempted this. The H9 B-25 is done in two pieces, so, I have a template for how I might be able to keep the KMP set up that way. We'll see as the build progesses if its possible while maintaining strength.

Please post the info if you do it. I haven't joined the wing halves yet and that would help with storage.

what im basically thinking is using two or three dense wood strips about 2 inches wide to go across the center joint. Two on top, and maybe one on the bottom of the wing. Id place these on the wing in position and drill holes. Id then cut the wood strips down the center and epoxy the pieces in place. Id then use metal strips with drilled holes in them over the wood to screw them down. So, there'd be at least two of these holding the ing together PLUS the 4 bolts that hold the wing to the fuse itself.

The picture is the wing of the H9 B-25, but used it to illustrate what I mean. The yellow is the wood I'd place on the wing halves. The black circles are the holes and the grey rectangles represent the metal strips Id use to fasten the two halves together. I know...a little crude regarding the picture, but a friend of mine has the H9 B-25 and he did this and it works fine. The majority of the stress is still on the wing hold down nylon bolts into the fuse. The metal straps just hold the two halves together. They cant flex up and down either due to the metal wing tube

gentlemen and ladies, I want to thank you all for the sharing and exchange of ideas and how willingly you share it with all. This is by afr the best thread I have had the pleasure of reading. If it weren;t for my financial situation, I'd gladly jump on the band wagon. Not because I want a twin but simplybecause of the spirit of comraderie all you have displayed I myself, have "assembled' a very e;egant model of a plane that I have wanted for a long time and recently was able to buy it. That's the good part, the bad part were the -perons on the thread that all they did was bad mouth the manufacturer?distributor. I really shook my confidence in my ability to build and fly this plane but I'm happy to say that all the negatives were disprooven and I ended up with an attractive/flying model. To mr. KMP I salute you sir for the great job you are doing to satisfy your cuystomers and when I'm in the market for a new plane I can assure you I have no doubts about who I'll be contacting to buy one. Again thank you all. FLYNAVY

Question.

I have a Gen 1 with two RCV 91S's. Robart air retracts and a brake system. All is well yet concerned due to weight. Looks like about 19lb dry. Still need to break in the motors and program.

Question: Will the 19 lb be too much. The culprit is in the engine weight. They weigh almost 1lb more than Saito 100's in comparison.

Also, how are these RCv's? anyone have them installed? I will be using some big props, 3 blade 15X13 APC

Really appreciate any advice!!!

Thanks!

I run the RCV's and they are great engines once run in per the manual they also provide plenty of power for me.
My B25 now comes in at 24 pounds. with all the detail work, bomb doors etc.

Have fun fly's great.

My -25 comes in at a shade over 19 lbs and I'm using two Saito .82's. It flies OK, a lot like a bomber . I recommend keeping the speed up on final as the airplane will slow down very quickly upon reducing the power. The last thing you want to do is stall it and drop it in.

Three bladed 15x13's sounds like a lot of prop for a .91, what kind of rpm do you get with them?

I do have a question for the forum. I am using the Robart retracts designed for the airplane and when setting it up found the airplane sits at a positive 4.5 deg of incidence with the gear in the stock positions. I ended up adding 3/4" blocks on top of the main gear plates to get the airplane to sit close to neutral (it is now 2 deg of positive incidence). The lower incidence keeps it from ballooning on touchdown and also keeps the airplane from jumping off the ground on takeoff. Did anyone else have an issue with the gear? Any other ideas on adjusting the gear?

Cheers,

you could cut the oleo strut on the nose gear down a little to lower the nose.

I concur.

I'm mounting Robart 551RS retracts with 662L/R 7/16" offset struts in my H9 60 Mustang, and I used a Dremel cutting wheel to lop off about 2" of strut to get the length of the gear right.

Granted, you need to only be cutting in the area above the shock-absorbing receptacle within the strut, but, in my case, I had plenty of hollow tubing above that which could be removed.
