Poorjudgement, looks great. I don't have any experience with the parts your using could you maybe take the time to provide an exploded view and give the part numbers and names. Of course the most important thing is, will they perform well and holdup? Keep us posted on your findings. Great job.

i just used the tmaxx plastic driveshafts, the male section, and cut a cen mt cv down to match the diff cup. i stuck the cv into the shaft, wheel end first as it where, cos the tmaxx shaft is hollow, and voila, perfect fit on tmaxx hubs. i need to use a cen hex pin to secure it, but it works fine, just gotta fiddle that shock mount.

i took it to the lhs here... they swore when they saw it.... lol

Taylormade, cheers for looking mate, I know it is like looking for a needle in a haystack!!
I think I may have a solution to the driveshaft issue that will allow me to retain the use of CEN diffs. I have just been on the Unlimited Engineering site and they do extended cv shafts for the T-Maxx. They seem to be long enough to reach the length of the Savage arms and also appears to be slim enough to fit the CEN diff cups. This is their site, what does anyone reckon, do they look like they will fit the CEN diff cups to you? http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/cvds.shtml

they look expensive scouser!! hard to judge if they will fit too... remember that the cen cups have an internal taper as well...

in my lhs yesterday i spotted some hpi shafts and cvs ends that looked like they could be made to work, but with which arms...? sigh... tricky stuff, man!

ive just remounted the shocks on mine to clear the driveshafts, its such a close fit in there now, i was very lucky to have got it all in there.

i had to grind the raised screw hole area of the lower mount to get the shock eye clear, and i used some low profile dome head screws from an ultra lx reciever/batt box lid. as u can see i moved the mounts to the front of the arm also. there doesnt appear to be any noticeable twisting of the arm, so i think im done!!

The hpi shafts, will they be long enough to reach the full length of the Savage arms do you think? I know the Unlimited Engineering arms are well expensive, but they will probably last a lifetime and will be well protected by the super thick Savage lower arms. I may post on the Traxxas forum to see if I can get some measurements from someone who owns them.
You're done, that's brilliant. I just transferred all the stock CEN parts back to the CEN chassis yesterday in preparation for the arrival of the Savage arms. I think my project is going to be a slow burner!!!

yea - best to ask in the hpi forum (i guess thats what u meant!) lol. they were very helpful for me, tho i had to hassle them a bit to get a reply.....cen and hpi..... different worlds....

the cvs just turned up mate - many thanks for those - i now have tonnes of spare cv parts to keep me going!!

i just bought some 5x25mm washers from wilkos of all places, to secure the wheels and the 17mm adapter.... so erm.... rx batt is charged, glo starter is charged.... id best get fueled up!!

i will be looking to get some of the 1" hex extensions from RDLogics i think it is who do them, ive seen them on e bay in the states, bit pricey, but will finish it off lovely. it will make getting a body to fit an awful lot easier too. im looking at a crowd pleazer type i reckon, the new lhs here has been very helpful in that regard, and are ordering a few in for me to try - how nice is that!?!?

doh - gotta fit those cen pins thru the shafts yet - nearly forgot!!

dunno how relevent this is but... i just tried out the suspension on mine, and i can drop it from over 6 foot without the suspension bottoming out!! i kid u not!! there is somethin to be said for 1/8 shocks on a lightweight truck i guess. it just goes plop.... lol, yes - im quite pleased with meself!

Good luck mate, let us know how it handles.
I posted in the Traxxas forum to find out the length of the supermaxx cvds' and see if they are long enough to reach the end of the Savage arms and slim enough to fit the CEN diff cups. I have high hopes for these driveshafts, I intend to race the end result of this project, so getting strong reliable ones is a priority. I will let everyone know if there is any progress.

Just one other thought. Poor judgement, when you cut down the Tmaxx driveshaft, what was their original length? I was just looking through the options of Tmaxx driveshafts from other companies and the stock ones look like they may be long enough to work with the Savage arms. If that is the case then the options would greatly improve. Also, did you check the stock Tmaxx driveshafts to see if they would work in a CEN diffcup? If they are the right length and fit the CEN diffs, my problems will be solved and the project will be all but finished!!

the tmaxx shafts i used - the male part of the plastic sliding type - was just the right length once the cen cv was inserted into the end of it.

going by the size of the cvs/ujs on the shafts, i would very much doubt that any tmaxx or savage dogbone ends would fit the cen cups.

the tmaxx shafts that i used have a cv on each end, a shaft bolts into the diff end of the shafts on the tmaxx truck, the cups are done away with completely - the cen cups were too much hassle for me to find a dogbone to fit!

hopefully this pic will show u what i mean about the size difference of the parts, everything is so much larger than the cen driveshafts, cups, etc. the shaft with the hex on is what i have fitted to my truck, the half of the cen cv that fits into the diff on mine, is not yet ready, but u can see the other half is inserted into the tmaxx shaft. next time the trucks in bits - very shortly no doubt - i will get a pic of the cv end that goes into my diff, i just ground flats on it to match the profile of the cen diff cups.

jesus... i hope all that makes sense mate...

just to clarify what i did.... i bunged this end in there, and stuck a cen hex pin thru it all to hold it in place. im gonna slide a piece of the female part of the tmaxx slider shaft over the pinned section, to stop the pin from coming out. its quite a tight fit over the male shaft (ooer), so it shouldnt need any glue or owt.

Great bit of engineering guys! I wish Cen corp would take note of your hard work and base an upgrade on it to be available to those less mechanicly inclined! Are you listening cen? The parts will sell!

If those Tmaxx dogbones dont fit the CEN diff cups then I am back to square one. I am convinced there must be a driveshaft out there that will fit the CEN cups, just got to keep looking for it. One thing keeping me going though, with the Savage lower arms and modified upper arms fitted, a nice set of velocity wheels and some low profile tyres, this thing will look awesome. (Someday!!)

yea, then we could vote on the colour of the shafts...
