I just built that "SPAD" foamie that's posted on the http://www.spadtothebone.com homepage... if your interested, check out my thread in the Electric Foamie forum by clicking on the link below...

My SPAD Foamie Thread

I posted it there, since it's really more of an electric foamie than a SPAD... but figured my fellow SPADders would be interested as well... especially since the plans are listed on our favorite website...

Hey cool someone actually built my design! I can tell you why you ended up adding tail weight. The pack you are using is an ounce or soheavier than the Etec 1200mah pack I used, so your AUW is a bit heavier than the prototype by an ounce and a half, but no big deal, it should still fly great. Not a great looker I know, but you would be VERY hard pressed to find a FFF sport plan that is as quick and easy to build. It flies great too.

FrankC29... Great design! Thanks for posting those plans on STTB! You're right, it was a pretty quick and easy plane to build.

I figured the bigger pack was probably the reason mine came in nose heavy. I believe this pack is longer than the 1200mAh pack, and I think I have a little more space between the pack and the motor, which puts the wing back farther than yours, making it more nose heavy. I put a 3/8" square balsa piece between the batt and motor to be sure the batt doesn't slide up against the rotating outrunner case. I also put some 3/8" balsa under the wing, and where the rubberband mounts go into the fuse... the rubberband tension was bending the fuse up at both ends, so I had to stiffen it up a bit.

I did maiden it today... just one flight, though... check out the other thread for details...
