Joe Bennett -> The SSV2 - An AP fixed wing aircraft (3/12/2005 10:39 PM)

Group,

I have just finished a build thread on another site, and created two files documenting it. The aircraft is the SSV2 (Stick Stick Version 2), and is purpose designed for use as a small commercial aerial photographic aircraft capable of handling moderate winds. It is designed with a very high power to weight ratio, long cruise time, and a very favorable to AP flight envelope. The files are available below as either PDF or WORD format for the PC platform. Feel free to ask questions or leave comments here. I would be happy to answer or respond to all that are left here. Thanks.

Group,

Preformed the maiden flight today of the SSV2. Everything worked even better than I had anticipated. The flights today have proven out to me that the design is an excellent flying aircraft with much potential for commercial AP operations. Took some video of the flights today (at least my wife did anyway, her first time with the camera). Check it out and let me know what you think of the SSV2. Later...........

You need to get a tripod with a fluid head. Some of that footage hurts to watch.

I am a fan of the Bogan 501 myself

Other than that good job!

Actually, was her first time filming (had no one else available to help out), and it was totally hand held. Did better than I really expected. She did miss totally on three loops I did, just could not get the hang of it in such a short time. But, did want to get some footage of the SSV2 up and viewable. Will see how good footage is next time I get to film it. Later.....

Yep she did a fine job for a handheld video, looking at the sky, for a small plane [sm=thumbup.gif]
