I hear you Fred. I've "seen the light" and also going to one (1), yes I said one (1) JR 945s dual conversion receiver!!! As you can see from the receiver, I came over from the dark side and am now the proud owner of a 10X!!!

I'm putting a DA 100 on my 260. I have it mounted and the hinges glued in on the ailerons and elevator. As Tom suggests, I will wait until later to do the rudder. Oh yeah, i also purchased a BatShare from Smart Fly to tie the two Duralites together into the one RX.

Bobby

P.S. I am happy to hear that you had a fully successful first flight!!

I've been gone, wheel pants may be there but I'm here, will be back soon.

2 inches each way on elevators is still way too much, I'd think half that would be plenty.

Well, I finally got my servos back and I have them installed again. First nice afternoon I will take this plane out and see how it is. Hopefully within the next day or two the wind will lay down enough to give it a go.

I got a couple of flights on the 260 today. It was a perfect afternoon with little wind and perfect temps in the mid 70s. At 23 3/4 lbs the BME 100 was plenty of power, which I knew it would be. This plane is different than the other 33%+ planes that I have owned. Kind of hard to put my finger on the exact difference, but it is a little different. I am not the worlds smoothest nor am I any kind of Imac pilot, but I could tell this plane is just super smooth. Very responsive, stops on a dime with snaps, rolls and spins. I think this plane can make some waves in Imac. This alone makes it a fun plane to fly, because it makes me look smoother than I am. The 3D is not bad, but it does not 3D as easily or as well as my Columbo Anderson 34% Extra. The 260 is not hard to torque roll, and when you figure out the sweet spot it does a great harrier too. Harrier rolls are not hard, and the wingtip spin rocks! Elevators and walls are not that great. Instead of popping the nose up it just kind of mushes into them. Really, those 2 things are the only things I couldnt get it to do well. It just takes more work than my CA, but as Tom said this is more of a precision plane, that WILL 3d. On high rates it will snap if you aren't careful, but they if you are quick on the ailerons it is not hard to control. It slows right down for landings, and they are a non event. My CG is a little in front of the recommended point, so that will probably help the 3D when I move it back a little. All in all I like it and I think anyone who buys this plane will be happy with it. It is high quality in both build and flight. Particleman took some pictures so maybe he will post here. He also flew it so maybe he has an opinion on how it flys.

Here are some pics of Bryant330L's plane, didn't get many in the air shots. I got some stick time on it too. BME 100 was loads of power on this one, nice combination. The roll rate is very quick. Like Bryant330l said it's a very crisp and clean flying plane. This would be an excellent plane for precision flying. Wingtip spins were almost violent . As far as 3D type stuff it settled into a nice harrier with little to no effort to hold steady. Once the plane was in a torque roll it held very easy, the rudder is very effective when the plane is stalled from what I could tell, making it easy to stand back up if you get over to far. Parachutes like bryant330l said, don't really bring the nose of the plane up, I even got a bit of a dropped wing. Overall I liked it.

How are you entering into the wingtip spin ? I have tried some different things haven't got it to do it yet ? I have found in the harrier and elevator to stop the wing rocking I set it up and then bump my ideal trim up till it quits ..The more I fly it the more I like it !

I only did one wingtip spin, and I can't always get into them either. This time I did a Lomcevak and just flew into it that way. It worked real well and it spun very fast. I need to learn how to get into it more consistantly, it is cool to watch.

Byrant330L - Enjoying your write-up on the Extra 260 - I just bought one, but it's going to be a while before I can put mine together.

Can you explain how to do a Lomcevak? I think it's one of the coolest aerobatic manuvers in the book, but I've never known anyone who could do one.

Thanks

To do a Lomcevak I rotate 90 degrees one way with ailerons, then rotate back the opposite direction. When the wings get about 45 degrees the opposite way I kick in full down elevator and same direction rudder. All this on high rates. If the plane is set up it will make it do a nasty snap/tumble. I am sure there are other ways, but that is how I do it.
