I might add that depfife's plane was a feature in a short article in R/C reports magazine last year saying the same things that depfife has said.
This type plane came in a variety of names like the RCM trainer 60 with construction articles at two different times, years apart, at least three Bridi versions with different length wings and tail positions and then as the GP trainer 60 in two different versions. Joe Bridi was the original designer.
There's a GP Trainer 60 at the flying field at my home with a ASP 61
They can be a favorite plane even built as originally intended with a normal engine on it.
it's nice

I just loved my little Great Planes Trainer .40 . It was labeled as a Trainer, but it was just as agile alot of Sport Planes. A real fun, and fast flyer! A wing mount broke on it while about 200 ft up. The wing seperated from the fuse, and the fuse went in like a rocket while the wing just fluttered down to the earth. I sure hated to see that one go. I had rebuilt it several times due to other mishaps, but the last time it was just to far gone. The GP Trainer 40 and 60 had much more gusto than just about any Trainer you might find today in my opinion. I wished they still produced the kits!

I fly an old pattern plane called the Daddy Rabbit. It has an OS 91 4-stroke and it just a blast to fly. It goes where you point it, but can land on a dime.

Since I don't race, or compete in any other way, I consider all my planes to be "sport planes". If favorite is determined by the one that gets the most flights then my favorite is a WM Aircombat Zero. It's not the prettiest, in fact, I usually call it my ugly green plane or my "beater plane". It's not at all scale, if it weren't for the circles on the wing, there would be no way to know it's supposed to be a zero. It is a good flying plane with a reliable engine, OS .32 FSR. When I haven't flown for a few weeks, this is the plane that goes up first.
The pic below is my current flyable fleet, I should be adding a Tower Uproar within the next day or two. Clockwise from front WM .45 P-51 Miss America, Pilot HydeAway .10, WM Aircombat Zero, Modeltech Extra 300.

Well, back in the day my favorite was Goldberg Falcon 56...learned to fly with it and it was my everyday flyer for a long time...these days my two favorites are a GP Easy Sport (now deceased but what a fun flyer she was), my new Dazzler built from a kit and my newest bird a SPAD (hope that doesn't offend anyone) which I call the Firebird. The firebird has a 20 oz/sf wing loading and is pretty tough.....

You can take that SPAD and.... go fly it. I don't have to agree with your choices and you don't have to agree with mine. If you're having fun, you're doing it right.
